ASVA Marketing Award 2019

2018 was another successful year for Scottish visitor attractions as our sector continued to outperform the rest of the UK. Creative marketing contributes hugely to this continued success and is something that we are looking to celebrate with our 2019 ASVA Marketing Award! The Award shines the spotlight on these achievements and the excellence, innovation and creativity in marketing demonstrated by ASVA member attractions. Entries for the Marketing Award should be for a specific campaign (e.g. event or exhibition) and can be entered by:
  • An individual attraction
  • Group of attractions (either as part of the same organisation or a destination but if the latter this must be led by an ASVA member attraction)
We are really looking forward to receiving entries that show creativity and innovation, and indicate the use of different channels, disciplines and technology depending on the site and what is being promoted. Ideally, your entry should give clear evidence of measurable results to support the claims in your submission. If you’re thinking of entering and what to know more about previous entries and what made them successful, you can find presentations from the 2018 finalists in the Members Area of our website (Members Documents/ Marketing Workshop 2019). If you need log in details, please contact helen@asva.co.uk.

We would really encourage members from attractions large and small to enter! It doesn’t matter about the size of your campaign and the budget behind it, it’s the quality that counts. If you’ve been working hard to deliver an innovative, highly engaging and impactful marketing campaign to bring visitors to your attraction, then don’t miss out on the opportunity to be recognised for it.

OUR JUDGES
Our expert judging panel this year includes Anna Leask, Professor of Tourism Management at Edinburgh Napier University, Julie Trevisan-Hunter, Marketing Director with The Scotch Whisky Experience and Laura Adamson, Marketing and Communications Manager for Live Borders and an ASVA Board member.

2018 MARKETING AWARD WINNER
In 2018 the Marketing Award was won by The Scotch Whisky Experience for their 30th Anniversary Campaign. Talking about their win, Marketing Director for The Scotch Whisky Experience, Julie Trevisan-Hunter, had this to say:

One of the most beneficial aspects of winning the marketing award is the application process. When you are working for a busy attraction it is easy to know that you are generally “doing the right thing” and by the time one piece of activity is over you are on to the next. Writing the award application requires digging deep about your intention, how the campaign was activated and the ensuing success. Once you start looking at it through the lens of an award application it gives a different perspective highlighting aspects that you may have missed or taken for granted. There is no doubt that the sense of excitement and celebration on winning is a brilliant boost for the team. I would highly recommend applying!

So why not follow Julie’s advice? It’s a fantastic way of showcasing your achievements, both within our industry and beyond. And don’t forget, as with all ASVA Awards, the Marketing Award is FREE TO ENTER!

AWARDS SPONSOR – BRODIES
