National Museum of Rural Life

Escape to the countryside for a full day of family fun at the five-star National Museum of Rural Life, East Kilbride. Located just 13 miles from Glasgow’s city centre, our 1950s working farm is home to Aberdeen Angus cattle, Tamworth pigs, Ayrshire cows, black-faced sheep and Clydesdale horses Mhairi and Anna. See how the experts milk our real dairy cows, then visit our model of ‘Clover the Cow’ to try your own hand. Tour the period farmhouse for a sense of what living on a farm was really like more than 50 years ago, then visit our purpose-built museum to discover how 300 years of farming and rural home life have shaped and altered Scotland’s countryside.

Admission: Adult £7; Concession £6; Child £4 (under 5s free); Family (2 adults, 2 children) £19; National Museums Scotland Members free; National Trust for Scotland Members free (admission charges apply to NTS members on some event days and ASVA card holders – see www.nms.ac.uk/rural for details).
