Palace of Holyroodhouse

The official residence in Scotland of Her Majesty The Queen, the Palace of Holyroodhouse has been a royal home for 500 years and is today the country's only working royal palace.

Closely associated with Scotland’s rich history, the Palace stands at the end of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, set against the spectacular backdrop of the extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat.

During your visit, you will walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, both past and present, discover Bonnie Prince Charlie and Mary, Queen of Scots, explore the magnificent State Apartments and stroll the manicured gardens, where The Queen hosts her annual garden party for 8,000 guests.

The Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyroodhouse hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection.
