RSPB Scotland Lochwinnoch nature reserve

This wetland reserve is ideal for all the family as the trails, birdwatching hides and visitor centre are all easily accessible.
As one of the few wetlands left in west Scotland, Lochwinnoch is the perfect spot to watch whooper swans, wigeons and a wide variety of ducks during the winter months and in spring you won't want to miss the elaborate displays of the great crested grebes.

The reserve has an outdoor natural play area, an accessible trail and we run events suitable for the whole family as well as daily drop-in kids activities, pond dipping and bug hunting (April to October).

While you're here visit our centre, watch the birds on the feeders, see our resident whooper swan and look out for the elusive otter. You can also get a hot drink and snack or browse the shop which has an array of bird feeding products, books, gifts, clothing, toys and binoculars and telescopes.

The reserve is open at all times. The visitor centre is open daily from 10 am-5 pm with the exception of 25-26 December and 1-2 January, when the centre is closed.

This nature reserve is important for wildlife. RSPB Scotland welcomes responsible access, in line with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. During the ground-nesting bird breeding season (1 April to 15 August) we would ask that you keep your dog close to you, preferably on a short lead and please clean up after your dog.
