Benromach Distillery and Visitor's Centre

On the outskirts of the Royal Burgh and ancient market town of Forres lies Benromach distillery, the smallest working distillery in Moray. Its distinctive near 100 foot red brick chimney rises high above the neat white distillery buildings below. Whisky was first made here in the last year of the nineteenth century and Benromach continues to produce its golden spirit for connoisseurs the “world o’er” to savour and enjoy.
This imposing distillery lay silent and empty for a number of years until Gordon & MacPhail, the malt whisky specialists, bought Benromach in 1993. They immediately set about an extensive reinstallation programme to bring it back to its former glory. HRH The Prince of Wales officially opened the distillery in October 1998 and signed a cask of whisky, which can be seen in the traditional Dunnage style cask warehouse.
The Malt Whisky Centre, formerly the drier house, opened its doors to welcome visitors in 1999. Now you can sit in the “wee nook” and watch a video depicting the history of Gordon & MacPhail and the production of whisky at Benromach. Enjoy a personal guided tour, browse through the gift shop, learn about whisky at a tutored nosing and tasting and enjoy the exhibition. Language sheets are available.

The distillery is open all year round and groups are welcome.

Facilities include free parking and a gift shop.

The Classic Tour - a thirty minute guided walk through the distillery followed by a tasting of our award-winning Benromach 10 Years Old. And, of course, a very warm welcome.
