A beautiful coastal pine forest, planted from the 1920s to stabilise the drifting sand dunes. Although planted by man, Culbin has very rapidly adopted many plant, animal and bird species usually found in native pinewoods. With its fascinating history and unique atmosphere, Culbin is well worth a visit. Walk or take a guided tour around 3000 hectares of petrified sandunes where you can get up close and personal with seals and badgers in the same day. The SSSI is big enough to give all its visitors that sense of space and tranquility you expect from a wild experience. Well-marked walking/cycling trails throughout the forest.
