Glen Affric NNR

Often described at one of Scotland’s most beautiful places, Glen Affric National Nature Reserve has one of Scotland’s largest remaining ancient pinewoods. Capercaillie, black grouse, crested tit, crossbill, golden eagle, osprey, red-throated diver, pine marten and otter are all present. It’s also a great place for hillwalking, mountainbiking on forest tracks and open water canoeing. Glen Affric is a National Nature Reserve, managed jointly with Scottish Natural Heritage. The River Affric carpark is at the end of the public road in Glen Affric. It is set in the heart of the Affric hills between Loch Beinn a 'Mheadhoin and Loch Affric. Stunning views, waymarked walks, long-distance and hill walks available from this carpark make it the most popular one in Glen Affric. Try to arrive early in the height of the summer - it can be difficult to find a parking space. Dog Falls is a stunning carpark set in the middle of the Caledonian pinewoods. There are several walks into the core pine reserve from here
