RZSS, Edinburgh Zoo

Membership Sales Assistant

Application Deadline: Monday 13th December 1999
Membership Sales Assistant

Permanent & Seasonal Opportunities

Location: Edinburgh Zoo

The charity that owns both RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and RZSS Highland Wildlife Park is looking for committed and experienced sales professionals to join its Membership and Adoption team.

RZSS aims to connect people with nature and safeguard threatened species, a mission that sees us work both here in Scotland and in over 20 countries around the world. From inspiring the next generation about wildlife in our parks to protecting chimpanzees in the Ugandan rainforest; looking after some of the world’s most endangered species to saving the Scottish wildcat, RZSS is making a huge difference and we need your help to continue to grow.

The role
Working within the Membership and Adoption team, this role is responsible for the recruitment of new members to the Society, generating essential income for RZSS. The Membership Sales Assistant role is key to the department and will add value by actively increasing our membership base and by promoting the benefits of membership to visitors and enquirers by email and phone but mainly by face to face - out in the Zoo. Key responsibilities include engaging with visitors at Edinburgh Zoo to promote and sell memberships, ensuring existing members are making the most of their membership packages and helping with varied membership and adoption administration tasks when required.

Who we are looking for
The post-holder must have face to face customer service and sales experience, have excellent communication skills, and should be a self-starter with the ability to work with colleagues across RZSS. Membership or similar sales experience is very desirable. You should be educated to Standard Grade level (as a minimum) with outstanding communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Some knowledge of Direct Debit and Gift Aid processing and the associated legal requirements is desirable. Overall, the successful candidate should be an enthusiastic people person who is skilled in dealing constructively with customers face to face as well as by phone and email, with previous experience of administrative and data processing work being an advantage.

Although we specify full time hours, we are in fact flexible and happy to look at job sharing and part time opportunities to work around you. Weekend working is the best time to catch the crowds so there will be an element of this. Therefore, regular weekend work and a planned 5/7 rota is ideal. We have permanent and seasonal opportunities available.

Please note, this is an open-ended advert. We will be conducting a rolling programme of short-listing and interviewing and reserve the right to close this vacancy early, therefore we recommend you apply as soon as possible in order to ensure you do not miss this brilliant opportunity.
