New Lanark Trust

Funding & Development Officer

Application Deadline: Thursday 28th February 2019
Overview
Working as part of the Heritage & Development Team, the Funding & Development Officer will be responsible for securing funding for major redevelopment projects through grant applications, sponsorship and crowdfunding.

Role Background
In early 2018, New Lanark Trust undertook wide-ranging consultation on the ‘Vision for Our Future’ document, which laid out the Trust’s plans to develop the World Heritage Site over the next 10 years. This document, and the feedback received, are now forming the basis for the New Lanark World Heritage Site Management Plan and Action Plan, due to be published in early 2019. The Action Plan sets out strategic projects for the next 5-10 years.

In order to support the delivery of these projects, the Trust is seeking to appoint a Funding and Development Officer to secure project funding from a range of sources. In addition to building relationships with traditional funders such as Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Environment Scotland, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Scottish Enterprise, the post holder will be expected to develop new methods of fundraising, including corporate sponsorship, donations, legacies and crowdfunding.

The Heritage and Development Team is responsible for the delivery of major site-wide interpretation projects and the development of the World Heritage Site Management plan along with the volunteering programme, collections, events and exhibitions. We are therefore looking for a confident individual with an interest in museums and heritage who can inspire potential funders and sponsors and who enjoys the challenge of working in a diverse but satisfying role.
