RZSS, Highland Wildlife Park

Do you love cooking great food and pride yourself on delivering first-class customer service? We’re looking for a Cook to join our dynamic catering team at Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig!

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Cook to join our busy kitchen team. You will help prepare hot and cold food including breakfast, lunch and daily promotions but ultimately providing a fantastic culinary experience for our visitors.

What you’ll be doing…
As Cook, you’ll be a valued part of a tight-knit catering team that loves the buzz of working under pressure within a fast-paced café environment and a much-loved visitor attraction. You’ll help us in the following areas:

- Preparing, cooking and presenting food to a high standard and quality by following relevant hygiene, health and safety guidelines
- Monitoring stock control, portion control and wastage within a tight gross profit margin.
- Help develop our innovative menu from locally sourced produce
- General housekeeping, e.g. cleaning the food preparation areas and appliances, maintaining all due diligence records in line with company procedures
- Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with front of house café team

What you’ll need…

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of catering competence. If you are self-motivated along with the ability to work as part of a team and have the following - we would like to hear from you:

- Qualified to SVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification or relevant experience preferable (minimum 2 years catering experience)
- Good understanding of legislative requirements regarding food preparation and delivery
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificates including Cook Safe
- Excellent verbal communication
- An understanding of what first-class visitor service looks like
- Well organised with the ability to work well under pressure.

This is a permanent and full-time role (37.5 hours per week) including regular weekend working. Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references, evidence of qualifications/certificates, right to work in the UK and Basic Disclosure Scotland check prior to commencement.
