RZSS, Highland Wildlife Park

Visitor Experience Assistant (seasonal)

Application Deadline: Sunday 17th February 2019
Are you passionate about animals, love meeting new people and pride yourself on delivering first-class customer service? We’re looking for Visitor Experience Assistants to join our dynamic team at Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig. Recruitment for our 2019 season is now open!

Based in the Cairngorms National Park, the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park welcomes 200,000 visitors per year and was voted the 2018 Best Day Out in Scotland at the Scottish Hospitality Awards. As the new spring/summer season approaches and the exciting news of the first polar bear cub born in Britain for 25 years, we are currently seeking pro-active and enthusiastic Visitor Experience Assistants to join our vibrant team.

What you’ll be doing…

There are all sorts of jobs to be done at Highland Wildlife Park to help keep this unique and wonderful place going. From welcoming thousands of visitors through the admissions gate, to providing tourist information, serving customers in the café or shop and above all, ensuring our visitors have a memorable experience - our Visitor Experience Assistants can enjoy a wide range of fun and exciting responsibilities. Our roles are as varied as our animals, and we’re recruiting for the following departments:

Admissions - acting as the first point of contact through the admissions gate you will provide a warm welcome, selling tickets and providing information and assistance.
Car Park - you will help manage the car park, often providing information or directions for visitors and helping with litter picking and basic car park maintenance.
Retail – working in our gift shop, you will assist customers with their purchases, help process sales, cash handling, stock control and replenishment.
Catering – you will assist the kitchen with food preparation and dish washing and deliver excellent customer service and maintain a clean and welcoming café area for our visitors.
Presentations – you will provide guided tours and animal talks, which should be engaging and informative for our visitors. This may include driving the on-site visitor transport vehicles, e.g. drivers licence required.

We have a number of seasonal positions available (Fixed-term until 31 October 2019) on variable hourly paid contracts, which includes regular weekend work.

What you’ll need…

Often acting as the first and last point of contact for our visitors to the Park, understanding and being able to deliver first-class customer service and care is paramount. In addition, applicants are expected to be educated to Standard Grade level, with a competent level of numeracy skills. Previous experience within a visitor attraction would be an advantage, especially in admissions, or a retail environment. If you have a passion for wildlife and conservation, that’s even better – we would like to hear from you.

What you’ll get in return…

We care for our people just as much as we look after our animals and visitors. As well as the fundamental benefits like salary and a Work Place pension, we offer other rewards that can help you financially, can make work a bit easier and make life outside of work a lot more fun! For example, 34 days annual leave allowance, life assurance, friends and family discounts, Employee Assistance Programme and free access to a whole host of other Scottish attractions with our ASVA (Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions) passes.

We offer more than everyday job satisfaction - as well as our wonderful animals we have a highly professional, diverse and friendly staff community too. So, in working for RZSS you've not only got a great job in a very interesting organisation - you're also part of an amazing cause too!

To apply, follow the link to our website and complete an application form. Closing date is Sunday 17 February 2019.
