Sales & Membership Assistant

Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) is one of Scotlands must see visitor attractions. Our mission is to be an essential bridge between citizens, science and technology. We inspire people of all ages to explore and understand the world around them, to discover and enjoy science and
understand its relevance to their own lives.

We are currently recruiting for a Sales and Membership Assistant to join our team to act as a primary point of contact and booking agent for GSC customers and to drive proactive sales on set campaigns.

This contract is part-time based on a permanent, annualised contract working 16 hours per week on an annual salary of £7,238 - £7,887 per year (£8.70 - £9.49 per hour).

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be the main point of contact for GSC public and education (in-house and outreach) enquiries (telephone, email & written) ensuring all are dealt with effectively.

  • To take ownership of all aspects of customers bookings including accurate processing of transactions, checking availability, providing confirmation, terms and conditions, numbers and payment confirmation, updating of calendars and follow up.

  • To take responsibility for set campaigns e.g Christmas Parties/Outreach Tours ensuring that proactive calling and upselling are used to deliver targets while customers receive a tailored 5 star service.

  • To support GSC across the business to deliver overall company visitor and admission targets

  • To liaise with other departments when required to ensure that the customers’ requirements are met and a 5 star experience is delivered.

  • Proactively contact schools to ensure that GSC education targets are met including for free schools & funded special events and to ensure all Scottish Government Transport Grants are allocated correctly and within the correct timeframe

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience of working within a proactive sales and customer service environment.

  • Proficient in the use of Gamma Ticketing System or similar

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages – particularly Outlook and Excel.

  • Excellent telephone and written communication skills in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.

  • Proactive, able to multi-task and forward-thinking.
