Metadata Assistant

Application Deadline: Saturday 20th April 2019
£20,995
Full time (37 hours)
Fixed term to September 2020

The National Library of Scotland is one of Scotland’s premier cultural institutions. It contains the nation’s memory: our collections document the influence of Scots at home and abroad across the centuries, while also reflecting the ideas and cultures of the world. The Library is one of the world’s most important cultural banks, comprising books, manuscripts, periodicals, journals, professional archives, music, film and sound and much more, including the growing area of digitisation and digital information.

We are seeking a Metadata Assistant to join the Metadata & Maintenance Team. The post holder’s main duties will be sorting, arranging, organising and assigning shelf marks to Library materials, they will also retrieve, and amend where required, catalogue records for external databases for inclusion in the Library catalogue.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work to deadlines while maintaining accuracy is essential in this post. Previous experience of working with IT in an office environment would be beneficial.
