RZSS, Edinburgh Zoo

HR Business Partners

Application Deadline: Sunday 28th April 2019
1 x HR Business Partner (30 hours)

2x Interim HR Business Partners (part-time/job share)

Do you believe that people make great organisations? At RZSS, our people are as diverse as the animals we care for and we are recruiting three part-time HR Business Partners to help deliver practical and innovative people solutions to support RZSS’ business plans and strategy.

Ever dreamed of going to work every day in a zoo? Then dream no more because the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland – the charity that owns both RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and RZSS Highland Wildlife Park – are looking for committed, compassionate and conservation-minded individuals to join our Human Resources team. We have three roles available:

2 x Interim HR Business Partner (up to 14 months maternity cover), to work together on a job share basis, e.g. 22.5 hours each per week.

1 x permanent HR Business Partner (30 hours per week)

What you’ll be doing…
It’s an exciting time to join the Society, as we embark on a range of new development projects aimed at continuously improving RZSS not just for our own people, but also our visitors. Working across both sites (RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park), as HR Business Partner, you will support your aligned areas by providing a comprehensive, professional and proactive HR service, for example:

* championing a high-performance culture and promoting the employee experience through internal communications and engagement
* finding and recruiting the best talent and ensuring effective workforce planning, talent management and succession strategies are in place for your assigned areas
creating new HR Policy to underpin best practice and embedding new procedures within the Society through designing and delivering line manager training.
* leading employee relations case management processes (grievance, discipline, absence and performance management) and coaching managers to resolve complex people issues
* supporting organisational change initiatives, e.g. digital transformation (implementing new e-Recruitment system) and facilitating a pay and grading review across the Society.
* report on key performance indicators and other management information - highlighting trends, ensuring underperforming areas are being challenged, are addressed early and making appropriate recommendations for action.

What you’ll need…
These are generalist HR roles, and we’re looking for experienced HR professionals who have the following:

* Degree qualified (or equivalent professional experience) with MCIPD. It is also essential that you have a sound knowledge of employee relations/UK employment law
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels, demonstrating a clear ability to quickly establish good rapport and credibility.
* Being able to prioritise, plan in advance and work well under pressure and experience in designing, leading and embedding projects would be advantageous.
* Confident and capable in developing and delivering a range of learning & development interventions with the intention of building manager capability
* Competent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e.g. interpret and produce high quality, accurate MI and KPI reports (HR data)

Please note that an offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references, evidence of qualifications, right to work in the UK and Basic Disclosure Scotland check prior to commencement.

What you’ll get in return…
We also look after our people just as much as we look after our animals and visitors. As well as the fundamental benefits like salary and a Work Place pension, we offer other rewards that can help you financially, can make work a bit easier and make life outside of work a lot more fun! For example, 34 days annual leave allowance, life assurance, friends and family discounts, Employee Assistance Programme and free access to a whole host of other Scottish attractions with our ASVA (Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions) passes.

We offer more than everyday job satisfaction - as well as our wonderful animals we have a highly professional, diverse and friendly staff community too. So, in working for RZSS you've not only got a great job in a very interesting organisation - you're also part of an amazing cause too!

This is an exciting opportunity offering the chance to make a real difference to this dedicated and passionate organisation. To apply, please visit the RZSS vacancy page and complete a RZSS application form and recruitment monitoring form and follow the instructions.

Closing date: Midnight Sunday 28 April 2019 and interviews will take place week commencing 6 May 2019.

Due to the level of interest in these positions, we are not able to contact each unsuccessful applicant individually. Therefore, if you have not been contacted by Friday 3 May, please assume that you have been unsuccessful this time.
