Marketing Manager (maternity cover)

Musselburgh Racecourse is firmly established as one of 'The Best Small Racecourses' in Great Britain, with a reputation for quality and innovation. Rated as a 5 Star Visitor Attraction, the Racecourse offers the best in venue hospitality with award-winning facilities and is renowned as one of Edinburgh and Lothian’s top leisure, corporate and sporting venues.

Reporting to the Senior Operations and Commercial Manager, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for promotion of the Racecourse throughout the UK both commercially and to the public, ultimately increasing exposure and brand awareness via the delivery of marketing, PR and promotional activity with a large focus on digital.

The role will include:
• Successfully managing all activity relating to the agreed 2019 marketing campaign
• Drive sales through effective marketing activity and reviewing campaigns to achieve sales targets
• Delivering the marketing budget and invoice management to monitor commercial income and control costs
• Identifying opportunities to increase exposure and brand awareness
• Co-coordinating the PR and promotional activity to ensure relevant materials are developed on time and on message
• Reviewing and regularly updating content across the Racecourse website, social media and app communication tools
• Progressing all Racecourse press, radio and other advertising campaigns
• Design and production of all Racecourse promotional literature
• Generating business through identifying potential sponsors and building key relationships
• Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external
• Working alongside the Operations & Hospitality department for the delivery of events, to ensure 5 star customer and client experience across raceday and non-raceday events

Candidates will need to demonstrate a flair for promotion and marketing strategy, with excellent project management skills and a high level of attention to detail. The ideal applicant is likely to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Marketing Executive, preferably acquired within a venue or events arena in the hospitality or sporting industries. Some experience in racing, supported by attendance on the BHA graduate scheme (or equivalent) whilst not essential would be advantageous. Excellent IT and administrative skills are essential, along with the positive, hands-on attitude essential to success.
