Would you like to take care of RZSS Edinburgh Zoo? Are you an experienced Joiner looking for a rewarding role with one of Scotland’s leading education and conservation charities? We are looking for a Joiner to help keep RZSS Edinburgh Zoo maintained to the highest standard, so that it provides a 5-star visitor experience.

We know that the Joiner role is pivotal to the smooth day-to-day running of Edinburgh Zoo. This is an interesting and varied role, whilst you won’t be caring for our Panda’s or Koala’s you will be caring for Edinburgh Zoo in a range of ways including general maintenance duties (minor repair and refurbishment works) and health & safety in order to maintain excellent standards of presentation for our visitors.

What you’ll be doing
We are looking for a Joiner to join our Property & Estates team to support the maintenance, refurbishment and new build projects and development at Edinburgh Zoo. As Joiner, you can expect to be involved with the following:

Working on a variety of projects including new build and the general maintenance of the site in accordance with agreed procedures and equipment testing
undertaking initial checks or inspections and the various administrative procedures relating to all plant, equipment, timber walkways and standoffs.
Maintain a consolidated stock list of all materials, order supplies, taking delivery and arrange for the storage of materials, stores and other goods relating to the daily operation of your activity.

This is a full-time position where the working hours are 37.5 hours per week. Please note that the successful candidate will require a basic Disclosure Scotland Check.

About You
If you’re passionate about animals and conservation and have the following, we would love to hear from you:

* Trained and competent in all aspects of joinery/carpentry including woodworking machinery.An understanding of basic locksmith tasks is desirable.
* Previous experience of working in a construction environment and therefore understanding of Health & Safety and safeguarding
* Positive team player who thrives on working collaboratively with your colleagues as well as independently on a variety of projects and tasks
* Ability to prioritise tasks and present a professional approach to all tasks.
* A full UK driving license is desirable.
