Fife Cultural Trust are an ambitious charity whose mission is ‘Enhancing Lives in Fife’. We do this by providing a range of creative experiences and via our Museums, Galleries, Libraries and Theatres.

Located in Kirkcaldy's town centre, the Adam Smith Theatre is a much loved venue which sits at the heart of the local arts scene and which is renowned for its high-quality shows.

We’ve a diverse and popular programme of events at our 475-seat venue, including comedy, dance, drama, music, children's theatre. Our theatre also supports and hosts local arts organisations, such as Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Societies, as well as a range of classes,workshops and festivals.

The theatre isn’t just about live performances; our main auditorium transforms into a cinema, showing everything from blockbusters to the latest in arthouse releases through to timeless classics.

The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably experienced and highly motivated Theatre Manager to lead our flagship theatre. You’ll be a people person who relishes challenges, excelling at nurturing great relationships with a keen eye for detail.

We’re seeking a leader with exceptional customer service experience and an understanding of Health and Safety along with a proven track record of developing initiatives, motivating teams, engaging with the community and working in a creative environment.

The Responsibilities
• Leadership and frontline team management throughout your venue.
• The future growth and development of your venue
• The delivery of service within your venue, with a business focused approach, to ensure compliance with relevant policies and practices across all areas of responsibility including Health and Safety.
• Driving a consistently high level of customer service provision.
• Ensuring that your facility meets all statutory and regulatory requirements and ensuring policies and procedures are developed to address any deficiencies.
• Liaising with contractors and suppliers to provide services and specialist equipment for your venue, including issues relating to building maintenance, security and cleaning.
• Be the Premises Alcohol License holder for your venue.
• Contribute to the wider organisational development of Fife Cultural Trust and support the development of cross-trust collaboration.
• Contribute towards the development of Fife Cultural Trust’s operational plan which encompasses all the Trust’s facilities and their uses. You’ll be expected to recommend change as required in areas of infrastructure, operations, financial performance and staffing.
• You may be required to work at any Trust venue within Fife as and when required.

You’ll hold a diploma or equivalent qualification in a related field or have relevant years’ experience, equivalent to the above. You’ll be to demonstrate the following:

1. Substantial management and leadership experience in an operational role within a theatre/performance environment, commercial knowledge, developing complex team rotas, the delivery of high quality services with a broad understanding of Health & Safety processes.
2. A good knowledge of the technical aspects of stage lighting, audio, video and related support systems within the Performing Arts Sectors
3. Ability to work flexibly and to prioritise own and others workloads.
4. Experience of performance management and disciplinary policies and procedures.
5. A proven record of promoting an ethos of customer excellence, respect and inclusion.
6. Experience of developing improvement plans for facilities and have successfully delivered and led change in facilities.
7. Strong coaching, people and team management skills tied with excellent interpersonal skills and a confident manner when negotiating and influencing people.
8. A creative and innovative approach to problem solving coupled with enthusiasm, passion and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
