Country Communications Manager

RSPB Scotland is looking for a dynamic, self-starting individual to join the team of Communication professionals within RSPB Scotland. The role can work from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness and the successful candidate can negotiate this with the recruiting manager.

Key tasks include:
- setting priorities and objectives for our work in liaison with UKHQ, to ensure it is on-brand and that we deploy resources appropriately.

- leading in the development and nurturing of close relationships with a wide range of journalists, editors, producers, PR industry contacts and researchers working in the news and media, as well as other partnership organisations, ensuring that RSPB Scotland is recognised as a key deliverer of quality stories.

- leading on ensuring that all RSPB Scotland's communications products are created and written in a clear, compelling and on-brand style which makes them accessible to the target audiences and enable to achieve their desired outcome.

- coordinating RSPB's responses to media enquiries on a daily basis, guiding communications officers to provide timely quotes that are consistent with our official policy and, when required, represent the RSPB on air

- providing communications guidance on all national and country priority political campaigns so that they secure broad support that influences government policy.

- leading on the delivery of RSPB led national events, or the RSPB's presence at other national events in Scotland, working with UKHQ and other teams to set clear objectives which promote either our political advocacy with devolved government or our visitor experience.

- leading on the process for developing and implementing destination marketing, visitor experience and interpretation plans for sites and projects so that key messages are delivered to target audiences in support of RSPB objectives.

- playing a support role in the management of all crisis communications from Scotland, working with the Head of Marketing and Communications Scotland to ensure that the reputation of the RSPB is upheld and enhanced where possible and all associated risks are mitigated.

Salary starting at
£29,507 to £31,966 per annum

Hours & contract information
Hours: Full time
Contract: 18 month Fixed Term contract
