Eden Scott is delighted to be working with Highland Safaris, based just outside Aberfeldy, Perthshire, to recruit a newly created role of General Manager.

Highland Safaris is an award-winning visitor attraction in Scotland where visitors can explore the country’s breathtaking Highland scenery on land rover safaris, inspiring walking and biking activities and enjoy beautiful Loch Tay with their boat safari. Highland Safaris’ mission is to enrich lives by providing 5* visitor experiences across all of their activities, ensuring visitors receive an unforgettable experience and discover some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.

This role will be instrumental in providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for all visitors, combining operational excellence and efficiency with effective, engaging and consistent operational delivery across all areas of the business. This includes safaris and activities, retail gift shop, self-operated café and events.

The General Manager will produce and deliver the Highland Safaris Business Plan and Strategic Objectives including the delivery of Highland Safaris’ mission statement “to meet, manage and to seek to exceed the expectations of all visitors as they share their passion for their Nature, Culture, History, and Landscape, creating memories to last a lifetime”.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead exemplary Health & Safety practices ensuring the Safety, at all times, of the team and their guests.
• Ensure outstanding levels of guest experience is delivered at all times via team engagement and brand integrity.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and support to managers and their teams, that enables the team to develop and improve their capabilities.
• Identify and use information to support and manage performance measured against the job role and strategic objectives (KPI’s).
• Continuously review the mix of activities on offer leading the creation, planning and delivery of new enhancements to the guest experience.
• Contribute to the commercial development and presentation of the attraction ensuring exceptional guest experiences are delivered consistently.
• Actively encourage and deal with all guest feedback in a prompt, professional and thorough manner, and implement any appropriate changes to improve the level of service offered.
• Maximise revenue to the attraction by achieving or exceeding agreed budgets for Land Rover Safari’s, Loch Tay Safari’s, Events and other ancillary income.
• Monitor, review and control the use of resources to ensure expenditure is controlled within the budget throughout the year.
• Produce an Annual Operating Business Plan focussed on growing the business via capital investment, growing visitor numbers and development of other commercial or guest enhancement opportunities

Key skills and experience required

Applying candidates should have a CV that details:

• A passion for hospitality and customer service combined with a love of the outdoors;
• Proven successful operational leadership in a high-quality visitor attraction, venue or similar;
• Experience in a quality self-operated café and retail operation;
• High quality visitor experience and customer care;
• Outstanding leadership skills and proven experience in managing a team;
• Commercial skills, developing a business, and can demonstrate a proven track record in increasing profitability;
• Experience in successfully managing budgets, forecasts and operational costs;
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
• Proven strategic and business planning skills
• Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the industry.


An excellent salary circa £40,000, dependent on skills and experience, is on offer plus bonus and various generous company benefits in order to secure the right candidate.
