They currently operate their visitor centres across Glasgow (Glengoyne), their new distillery and visitor centre in Falkirk (Rosebank) and Edinburgh (Edinburgh Gin) and have consistently been rated on Trip Advisor as part of Scotland’s top rated tourist attractions. Their teams already deliver some of the finest distillery tours and tastings in the country and provide truly engaging and world class visitor experiences.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a dynamic and experienced sales professional to join Ian Macleod Distillers in a newly created role, that of Sales, Marketing and Events Manager for their 'Edinburgh Gin' visitor attraction in central Edinburgh.
This critical appointment will commence around the end of March or dependant on the successful candidates notice period and take responsibility for:

• Strategic oversight of the Visitor Attraction for Edinburgh Gin sales, marketing and events activity.
• Engage with the MICE sector and beyond to maximise event income.
• Create a rolling programme of exciting consumer events at the distillery, generating profit for the business and excitement for the venue across social media and PR channels.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customers – DMCs, Event Organisers, tour operators, accommodation sector etc.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with tour operators, event planners and DMCs etc.
• Understand the competitive market-place and implement approaches to ensure the venue stays ahead in the local market.
• Research, plan and implement an annual sales plan to generate events and private dining business to exceed the annual budget.
• Lead business development through researching and developing a pipeline of key targets and ensure that it is maintained.
• Lead the process of responding to and managing venue enquires and pro-actively cultivating new sales leads.
• Oversee relationship with Visit Scotland, including implementation of QA Scheme (ensuring 5 Star status), advertising opportunities, FAM trips, journalist/blogger engagement and membership of relevant steering group(s)
• Establish and oversee relationships with appropriate trade and industry influencer groups, including but not restricted to ETAG, Marketing Edinburgh, Edinburgh Capital Group, DVC group, relevant VS steering Groups and The Golden Keys Society.
• Establish/oversee and incentivise accommodation partner schemes, ensuring all front of house staff at relevant venues understand what IMD Brand Homes has to offer them and their guests.
• Act as main interface to Press, Journalists and Film Crews requesting access to or information about the venue.
• Design and develop a variety of marketing initiatives and materials, ensuring maximum coverage in strategic areas.
• Develop visits and events that excite and enthral, proactively generating great PR and Social Media storylines.
• Analyse visitor numbers across relevant channels (e.g. online, walk-up, small group, large group customers)
• Review and use historical marketing activity and data to influence current and future marketing decision making.
• Oversee ongoing analysis of visitor nationality, leaflet redemption and accommodation partner incentive scheme.
• Strategic forecasting & analysing.

Key skills required:
We are seeking the very best business development (Sales, Marketing and Events) expert in this field in the Edinburgh area with the skills and experience to drive footfall through events and MICE business into this new Edinburgh Visitor Attraction.
The successful candidate will have worked in a Visitor Attraction, Venue or similar and have and have established MICE relationships.
Applying candidates should have:
• Significant experience of the Edinburgh tourism and event market
• Market knowledge – able to demonstrate relevant, specific commercial knowledge and understanding of Scottish tourism.
• Anticipates future trends.
• Deep and influential understanding of the customer journey and visitor experience journey, ideally in face to face customer environments
• Candidates are also likely to have a degree in a relevant qualification, combined ideally with membership of recognised visitor attraction organisation/governing body.
