Head of ICT

Application Deadline: Tuesday 31st March 2020
Head of ICT
Salary £37,599-42,348 (band E) – pay review pending
Full-time position (37 hours per week) based in Edinburgh

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s top botanic gardens in one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is looking to appoint a Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to be based at our Inverleith site in Edinburgh.
ICT is of critical importance to RBGE. It forms the basic office infra-structure which underpins all written documents and communication, telephony, business operations software, analytical pipelines and specialist botanic software and databases. This post has responsibility for service provision (meeting user needs), computing infra-structure building and maintenance, cyber security, system architecture, and horizon scanning, and the post holder directly line manages the wider ICT team.
On top of that we’re looking for someone who can develop IT strategy for the next 5 years, and enhance our IT infra-structure to meet business needs, with a particular focus on increasing capacity to support large scale digitisation programmes and computationally intensive analyses

We’re looking for someone with the experience, energy and drive to join us at this exciting time of change and growth for RBGE. You’ll need to have previous experience in leading an IT team, as well as developing and implementing departmental plans and strategies. Strong IT skills will naturally be needed, along with well developed verbal and written communication skills. You’ll need a good understanding of cyber security threats and how to combat them, and as you’ll be a member of our senior management team previous experience in a similar multi-functional group would be an advantage.

Full details of the post, including a job description and person specification, can be found on our website www.rbge.org.uk/about-us/vacancies.

Interested applicants should send a CV and covering letter outlining the skills and experience you could bring to the post, plus a completed equal opportunities questionnaire from our website, to recruitment@rbge.org.uk by 1700 GMT on Tues. 31st March 2020.

If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has not been shortlisted on this occasion.

No recruitment agencies please.
