Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust

Creative Learning and Engagement Officer (Accessibility)

Application Deadline: Friday 23rd October 2020
Once in a while a rare opportunity comes along for a suitably qualified individual to put their already amazing combination of ‘people skills’ - including patience, integrity and a sense of humour – plus an innovative approach to learning to full use. This is it!

The postholder will be one of three Creative Learning and Engagement Officers (CLEOs) employed at Moat Brae, the National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling, in Dumfries. In this role they will help to ensure that our programme of creative learning engages with, and is accessible to, as wide a range of audiences as possible, in support of the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust’s objectives to encourage reading and storytelling.

Reporting to the Centre Director, the role involves developing, implementing, evaluating and coordinating delivery of a range of creative learning initiatives using a mixture of arts-based practitioners (actors, authors, illustrators, etc), online activities, outreach, dedicated on-site workshops, public events, pupil/student and volunteer placements, staff training and specialist research or academic support.

With a strong emphasis on participation, the postholder will work directly or indirectly - through community partners, cultural organisations and specialist charities and other agencies - with relevant audiences including: local residents, schools, youth projects, people with additional learning needs or English as a second language, in vulnerable groups or from deprived backgrounds, plus volunteers and staff.

The post is permanent and full-time, subject to a three-month probationary period, with a salary of between £24-27,000 / year depending on experience.
