Appointment of Chair

The Scottish Seabird Centre is a conservation and education charity. Our vision is to help ensure that Scotland’s marine environment is healthy, wildlife-rich, valued and enjoyed by all. Our core charitable purpose is to inspire and educate people so that they are motivated to take action to care for the marine environment.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Chair who is able to lead, motivate and inspire the Scottish Seabird Centre team into the next phase of our journey – building on our 20-year history and creating a positive legacy for the future.

We are looking to appoint a Chair who brings with them:

  • Passion for protecting Scotland’s Marine and Coastal environment.

  • Ability to be an active ambassador for the organisation, projecting and cultivating enthusiasm for its role in marine conservation, education and wildlife tourism.

  • Experience of guiding the strategic development of an organisation, an entrepreneurial individual with the combination of commercial and charitable organisation acumen.

  • Knowledge of the political, social and economic context that we operate within and track record of establishing and building influential links with key decision makers and opinion formers.

This is a voluntary role in a national third sector organisation that has important stature in Scotland. Applications are welcome from all those who feel they meet the published essential criteria.
