The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is one of the world’s top four botanic gardens based on the quality, breadth and depth of our science, plant collections, public engagement and education. We are now looking to recruit a Director of Resources & Planning to join our executive team at an exciting stage of the Garden’s development to deliver the high quality corporate, financial and resource management that underpins the continued success of the organisation.

This is a wide-ranging role leading and line managing our finance, HR, and corporate planning teams, and will be the most senior finance presence in the organisation, responsible for developing, leading, and implementing strategic financial plans. Corporate governance will also be a key part of the role, and you will be Company Secretary for RBGE. You will also be responsible for coordinating our strategic and operational planning, and for providing the main point of contact with our sponsor team in the Scottish Government, a key part of our work with our exciting Edinburgh Biomes project about to begin the building stage.

In addition, the postholder will have executive responsibility for health and safety across the organisation, leading and directing our strategic and operational delivery. You will also chair our internal Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion Advocacy group, and will champion our initiatives and activities in this area.

Applicants should either be qualified accountants or have an MBA and a sound understanding of finance and business planning, or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Leadership experience at a senior level will be essential, and a solid background in strategic and operational planning will also be needed. The skill and experience to develop and embed a culture of customer focus and performance management is an important aspect of this job.

A full job description and person specification for the role can be found on our website

Interested candidates should send a CV and covering letter outlining the skills and experience you could bring to the post to, along with a completed equal opportunities questionnaire from our website, by midday on Fri. 6th November 2020.

If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume your application has not been successful on this occasion.

No recruitment agencies please.
