Respitality: How attractions can support unpaid carers in Scotland and also in the workforce

27th October | 11am to 12pm
Respitality is run by charity Shared Care Scotland - with support from Scottish Government - and connects local carers’ organisations with hospitality, tourism and leisure businesses who are willing to donate a break free of charge, giving carers a vital break from their caring role. ASVA members have been active in supporting Respitality offer these vital opportunities.

Businesses can donate to Respitality at a time that suits them from anywhere in Scotland. Since it began four years ago the project has seen a wide variety of breaks donated to carers and a companion from overnight stays and ice cream vouchers, through to beauty treatments and visits to local attractions. However, as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are still felt throughout the country, the project is calling on business to consider how they might be able to help make a carers day.

Join us for this webinar where Respitality will be showcasing the work they do, and how getting involved in this scheme can benefit not only carers, but the organisations supporting it. And also, how, during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, enabling these opportunities for unpaid carers is more important than ever. We’ll be joined by Kerry Donaghy from Respitality as well as Sue McLintock from Carers Positive, who will talk about how businesses can be aware of upaid carers in their workforce and how to support them. From an attraction perspective, Victoria Carruthers from Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery will share insights into how they became a Respitality donor, and how it benefits them as a business.
