Bright worked with local architects LDN to develop the Caledonian Canals Centre at Fort Augustus. A flagship location at the foot of the lock flight incorporates a retail area, sit down cafe, grab ‘n go offer, and a mini exhibition, which gives visitors a real sense of the human toil and ingenuity needed to create such a legacy.
The construction of the Caledonian Canal was led by genius Thomas Telford. The Caledonian Canal slices through 60 miles (96 km) of mountain, loch and bog to connect one side of Scotland to the other. It’s a world-class engineering marvel and a living, working part of Highland heritage.
A strong infographic approach was created to illustrate some of the amazing stories and statistics relating to its construction, trade and human endurance. The graphic style is predominantly black and white to link with the canal side heritage. This style is informed by the graphic language which is still visible at the canal side today. The welcome panel was designed to answer commonly asked questions from visitors.
