Broadcast On 28/05/2020

This was the first ASVA online forum, for members. There were a great line-up of speakers for the forum including:

Riddell Graham, Director of Industry Development at VisitScotland. As Chair of the Scottish Tourism Emergency Response Group (STERG), Riddell joined us to provide an overview of the STERG Action Plan, with particular focus on the ‘Reset’ and ‘Recover’ stages of the plan.
Lucy Casot, CEO at Museums Galleries Scotland – Since the pandemic struck, Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) have been conducting research into how COVID-19 has impacted the museums sector in Scotland and how ready the sector will be to recover when the lockdown ends. Lucy shared some of the analysis from this research, focussing particularly on smaller, independent sites, and discussed some of the work currently being undertaken by MGS to support the industry.
Bruce Ritchie, Head of Operations at Edinburgh Zoo – As one of Scotland’s leading attractions with an outdoor focus, Bruce provided a detailed overview of how Edinburgh Zoo is readying itself for re-opening and shared some hints and tips on how attractions could ensure they are ready to welcome visitors safely once the lockdown is lifted.
Doug Lansky, Travel Writer, Author & Destination Development Advisor – Those of you who attended this year’s Scottish Tourism Alliance Conference in early March will remember Doug’s show stealing presentation at the event. We were delighted that Doug joined us to provide an international perspective on the COVID-19 crisis, looking at the impact of the pandemic on destinations and what we need to be ready for in the post COVID landscape.
The event was hosted by ASVA Chair, Susan Morrison.
