Learn, Develop and Thrive with Online Booking

Run By ASVA/ VisitScotland

Broadcast On 26/01/2021

A lot changed in the attractions sector in 2020 and with the industry now having had a chance to digest and adapt to the new and emerging visitor expectations, ASVA in collaboration with VisitScotland, hosted an online webinar to help your attraction make the most of the 2021 season. With new research showing visitors are now expecting to be able to book online, why not take this opportunity to hear all the pros and cons of developing your online offering, as well as listen to industry insights? ASVA’s latest survey results show that, if attractions offer online booking, between 75% and 100% of visits are booked this way rather than being purchased on site, demonstrating a real sea change in visitor behaviour as a result of the Covid pandemic. Whether you are purely seeking to manage visitor flow or are looking to introduce/enhance your online payment systems, our experts will be able to help you find the best option for your business model.

The webinar was hosted by Kelly Molson, founder of Rubber Cheese and host of the hugely popular attractions podcast ‘Skip the Q’, and tourism, ticketing & technology guru Carly Straughan of QLINE Consulting . Both sharede their own insights into why you need to be online bookable and how you can best maximise your online booking experience, regardless of your attraction size, budget, technical expertise and resources, and even regardless of whether you offer free or paid for experiences. We also heard first-hand from operators in Scotland that provide both paid for and free experiences, including Craig Miller of the City Art Centre and Julie Riddell of Highland Safaris, who have recently gone through the process of introducing online booking at their attractions, each of whom will discuss how and why they took the plunge and what it has done for their business in 2020.

This webinar was suitable for both the digitally uninitiated, as well as experienced online operators. It was not a webinar full of techno-babble, but was instead designed to be clear, practical and to provide you with useable takeaways to either start, or improve, your online visitor journey and reap the financial and reputational rewards accordingly.
