Location

KEY PURPOSE

As part of the property team, assist with the conservation and development of the properties and gardens to ensure that Leith Hall and Estate are presented at the highest standards to its visitors and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Key Purposes of the job will be met by:
1. Undertaking practical maintenance of the garden (e.g. managing trees and shrubs, herbaceous plants, and bulbsturf care; pest/disease/weed control; composting and soil improvement; hard-landscaping; path care) to the required standards expected by the Trust and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors;
2. As requested, assisting with education/interpretation activities such as introductory talks and guided walks;

People Management

JOB PURPOSE

JOB PURPOSE

The role is responsible for the development and operational delivery of all aspects of the visitor experience at Mar Lodge Estate National Nature Reserve (NNR.) Leading the teams responsible for holiday cottages, events, functions, learning experiences, and countryside visitor services, the role ensures consistent high standards of visitor service are delivered across the estate. The role will also be responsible for project management of major new visitor experience initiatives in the wider estate. In turn, this will help ensure that the property is financially sustainable. As a key member of the management team at Mar Lodge Estate NNR the role will work with the team to develop and deliver a visitor experience strategy, promoting good communication across the property and integrated service provision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Staff and volunteers – (recruitment, induction, development, motivation, performance management) such that they are fully equipped and motivated to undertake their duties to the required Trust standards and that staffing budgets are adhered to.

To monitor the population and breeding success of selected seabird colonies to gain a greater understanding of the status of the colony and the threats and issues affecting it will be gained. This information will help in the protection of the seabirds and increase our understanding of the populations and environment. JOB PURPOSE
This post plays a crucial role in welcoming visitors from across the globe and acting as an ambassador for the National Trust for Scotland, building awareness and support for the charity leaving those you meet with a desire to respect, protect, and enjoy the special natural environment and an understanding of how they can help to contribute their support to the property.
The ranger post is responsible for day-to-day liaison with the local community including QinetiQ, contractors and boat operators to ensure appropriate information is communicated regarding safety, biosecurity and conservation and for reporting back on island activities to the Western Isles Manager
There will be a requirement for lone-working and with other staff and volunteers, on a variety of practical tasks to help achieve the high presentation standards expected of a World Heritage Site, National Nature Reserve, Site and Scheduled Area.

The role’s purpose is to assist the management of Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve (NNR) by carrying out botanical and other biological monitoring, as part of an ongoing programme, to inform management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Carrying out repeat monitoring of rare vascular plant species.
2. Carrying out other monitoring as directed.
3. Writing reports on the above as required.
4. Ensuring that all activities undertaken are compliant with the property’s Safe System of Work.

Scope of Role:

Botanical monitoring
 Carry out repeat monitoring of specified rare species at known locations on Ben Lawers SSSI (training in identification and method will be given).
 Assist with other monitoring and recording of key species and habitats if required.

People Skills
 Working closely with other property staff and liaising with other Trust staff as required (eg. Natural Heritage Adviser).
 Not a line manager may supervise and work with volunteers.
 Occasional interaction with members of the public of all ages and abilities.

Financial Management
 Not a budget holder and will be expected to liaise with the Property Manager (budget holder) prior to incurring any expenses and be mindful of effective management of Trust funds and resources.

Skills and attributes required for the role:

 A demonstrable interest in field botany.
 Competence in hillcraft, to work safely on steep ground, at up to 1200m and in varying weather.

JOB PURPOSE

This crucial new role has been created to support the long term sustainability of the National Trust for Scotland. Supporting the 10 year strategic plan you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Income, Treasury and Funds related functions within the Trust. This includes the following key areas:

• Investment & Fund Accounting,
• Endowments, Restricted funds and Legacy Income,
• Accounting & Advisory Services,
• Developing new Treasury Policies and long term Cashflow Management models,

The role also involves ensuring that the Trust’s systems of financial and internal control relating to these areas, are operating effectively, and leading the development and implementation of best in practice processes / controls

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop and maintain appropriate policies, processes and procedures to ensure the Trust’s financial operations are compliant with all relevant legislation and regulations in particular in relation to Statutory Accounting standards. Will require liaison with external advisers to support compliance and submission activities. Focus will be on keeping these compliant, effective and efficient.
• Develop, prepare and present regular Treasury and Investment reports for Senior Management to aide decision making and monitoring of risk management strategies.
• Support the Investment Committee by preparing financial performance analysis on the Trusts investments.
• Identification, management, and reporting of financial risks through the Trust’s Risk Management Framework ensuring that appropriate governance, policies, procedures and financial controls are in place and carried out to effectively manage and mitigate risk.
• Working with and influencing the other Finance Managers and Senior Managers in other teams to ensure that the necessary processes and controls are developed and implemented.
