Job Summary

The Project Learning Officer will play a key role in Celebrating Scotland’s Art. The post-holder will work independently within the Learning & Engagement team and as part of a cross-NGS team focusing on content, interpretation and activity within this major capital project. The Project Learning Officer will coordinate, develop and deliver the learning activities for the priority audiences set out in the Activity Plan. These activities are a central way of meeting the needs of these priority audiences identified for development through the project. The audiences are: schools, families with children under 7, adults and communities with a focus on audiences who do not currently visit.

The post will work entirely on Celebrating Scotland’s Art and will liaise closely with project-specific staff (in curatorial, digital and volunteering) and with key NGS colleagues across several departments to ensure the new activities integrate into existing programmes and work plans. The post-holder should have experience of working with a range of audiences and communities, ideally within a gallery or museum setting, and have experience of developing, coordinating and delivering learning programmes using art collections. In addition, the post-holder will be developing resources (including digital) for families, schools and communities. The post will report directly to the Deputy Head of Learning & Engagement.

The role

To contribute to the development and/or delivery of specified innovative and creative discovery and learning programmes. Within the RZSS Discovery and Learning team, in your assigned areas of responsibility, engage and excite participants, enhance connection and understanding between participants and wildlife, and strengthen knowledge and skills in line with RZSS’ mission and vision, and relevant curriculums.

This is a full-time role approximately 32.5 hours per week, from 27th June until 29th July 2022 plus additional subsequent opportunities.

* Work with colleagues and independently to develop, deliver and evaluate an agreed range of discovery and learning programmes, lessons and resources to achieve agreed outcomes and meet the requirements of relevant objectives, curricula, qualification and training systems; and which are accessible to all. * Deliver all aspects of a defined range of Discovery and Learning activities for agreed target participants, standards and in support of RZSS’ Vision and mission, ensuring all activities deliver value for money, experience and impact.
* Coordinate logistics and maintain accurate records and reports relating to your assigned D&L activities adhering to agreed standards
* Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues to ensure programmes are administered, delivered and the logistics managed effectively as part of the wider Discovery and Learning programme.

What we’re looking for:
* Equivalent experience or relevant qualification.
* Competent in Microsoft office suite.
* Experience of teaching or working in a teaching-related environment with particular emphasis upon science communication and/or teaching outside.
* Working knowledge of the natural world, conservation and science.
* Third year or above in a degree programme or equivalent level of qualification in a relevant subject.

As part of the next stage in the company’s development they are now looking to attract ideally from a Visitor Attraction or Hospitality / leisure sector a qualified Accountant to initially come on board as Group Head of Finance with the opportunity grow and develop into the future Finance Director as the company expand out of Scotland and into the UK.

The Job

As Group Head of Finance, you will be part of the senior management team and you will report into the CEO you will have responsibility for the following You will be responsible for setting up the finance systems for compiling, analysing, reporting, and presenting P&L figures for all departments and coordination of year end budget reports. You will need to create and implement systems and procedures to record and analyse costs and can communicate these effectively around the business. You will ensure the appropriate control and review processes are in place and being performed across all outlets .

A complete understanding of funding and the ability to interact and manage the relationship with Owners and banks are essential to this role. The ability to motivate and lead a motivated team of professionals is critical to the success of this position.

The Person

You will need to be able to demonstrate a solid track record of operating in a large Visitor Attraction or experience gained in dealing with small multi-site venues where you might have be responsible for being an Area financial manager or / director experience, preferably be qualified to ACCA or CIMA with strong numerical and literacy skills and be computer literate. You will be a good communicator, team leader and motivator who can produce results.

You should have a dynamic personality with the ability to adapt to change.

Under the day-to-day direction of the Estate Manager, and in liaison with others as necessary, the Estate Worker works at the Trust’s properties in Dumfries and Galloway to maintain the path network and boundaries at all properties including strimming, fencing, dyking and chainsaw work and path maintenance. The Estate Worker will occasionally work with the Estate Volunteers and other volunteer groups to undertake other estate work/Grounds duties as required.

JOB PURPOSE

You will be responsible for the providing administration support to four properties within the Aberdeenshire South area, Crathes Castle, Drum Castle, Craigievar Castle and Leith Hall. You will ensure all general administration is undertaken diligently, efficiently and carried out within the Trust’s procedures and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure all general administrative tasks are undertaken efficiently, effectively and timeously, including (but not limited to):
• Property correspondence (mail, email and telephone);
• Filing and record-keeping;
• Diary Management;
• Processing membership applications for the sites;
• Meetings support (agendas, minutes, support documentation);
• Cashier duties (reconciliation and recording);
• Data entry of takings, statistics – weekly, monthly and ad hoc;
• Purchase ordering – as required;

KEY PURPOSE

As part of the property team, assist with the conservation and development of the properties and gardens to ensure that Craigievar Castle and Estate are presented at the highest standards to its visitors and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Key Purposes of the job will be met by:
1. Undertaking practical maintenance of the garden (e.g. managing trees and shrubs, herbaceous plants, and bulbsturf care; pest/disease/weed control; composting and soil improvement; hard-landscaping; path care) to the required standards expected by the Trust and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors;
2. As requested, assisting with education/interpretation activities such as introductory talks and guided walks;
3. Fostering positive relationships promote the work of the Trust, and actively seek opportunities to increase Trust membership;
4. On occasion, working with volunteers and/or staff members to ensure they deliver required outputs at the appropriate standard, and gain benefit/satisfaction from their activities;

JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Ranger will combine responsibilities on nature conservation, visitor services, learning and community engagement and contribute to the delivery of the National Trust for Scotland’s conservation and operational objectives on the Isle of Canna.
CONTEXT
The Isle of Canna is one of a group of islands known as the Small Isles situated 19 miles off the coast of the nearest mainland port of Mallaig, Western Scotland and is owned and managed within the Trust’s Highland & Islands regional portfolio. On average Canna receives approximately 6000 visitors arriving from Mallaig by ferry, cruise ships, RIBS and private yachts.

The Canna Ranger role is positioned to provide an ‘on the ground’ support function to the island.

JOB PURPOSE

To combine responsibilities on nature conservation, visitor services, learning and community engagement to help deliver the objectives of the property and wider National Trust for Scotland.

Protect the cultural landscape of the Balmacara Estate and its associated natural and cultural heritage elements and features, and to communicate and promote the work of the Trust in this regard and in general through maintenance of the key features and infrastructure of the property, visitor engagement, education and interpretation. Working with the local community, and specifically crofters, is an important element of this role.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This specialist role exists to drive and deliver a wide programme of events and activities within Newhailes primarily but also within the 2 satellite sites of Malleny and Inveresk Gardens and to source sales and new hospitality business opportunities for weddings, functions and corporate business and ensure operational delivery of functions and events to a high standard. The post-holder will work closely with visitor services staff and volunteers within the property to ensure that functions and events are conceptually sound, financially and operationally viable, and appropriate for the Edinburgh properties. The purpose of the role is to generate significant additional income to support conservation and learning at Newhailes, and to encourage new audiences to visit the properties. This post requires energy, creativity, ambition, and flexibility in order to create functions and events that drive visitors to Newhailes

JOB PURPOSE

You will be responsible for the operation of Kellie Castle & Gardens. Delivering performance standards and targets to ensure enjoyment of the property by visitors and members is maximised and key commercial, financial and development objectives are achieved to make the property fully sustainable. You will lead a management team responsible for delivering an overall visitor service strategy, care of the site, including retail, food & beverage and liaise with colleagues responsible for collections care and gardens. Promoting good communication across the site and a joined up service provision.
