ART HANDLING TECHNICIAN (BAND 7A)

The Art Movement Team, led by the Art Movement Manager includes two Senior Technicians, four Art Handling Technicians, the Collections Storage Manager and an Assistant Collections Information Registrar. This team alongside the Registrar Teams make up the Collections Management Department which, in conjunction with the Conservation Department (and CIDAM) make up the Collections care Division. This Division is responsible for the care of the NGS Permanent Collection and works on loan to NGS.
The Art Movement Team works to national standards supporting complex national and international programming in the handling, packing, movement, installation and location tracking of a wide variety of artworks, including NGS Collection works and those on loan to NGS.

The main purpose of the post of Art Handling Technician is to ensure the safe movement, transportation and installation of all artworks within the NGS, including collections from and returns of artworks to lenders. The post holder also assists in maintaining the upkeep of the storage areas, exhibits, tools and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Visitor Catering Experience
• Overall responsibility for the management and delivery of the catering facilities at Threave Garden & Estate
• Ensuring innovative ideas and current trends in catering are constantly being delivered in all outlets on site

• Crarae Garden was created in 1912 by Lady Grace Campbell, the aunt of intrepid plant hunter Reginald Farrer, who sourced trees and shrubs from China, Nepal and Tibet. The garden hosts an amazingly varied collection of trees, some champions of their species, and a National Collection of southern beech. The site consists of gardens and Visitor Centre.
• Arduaine is a twenty-acre coastal garden situated on the southern slope of a promontory beside the Sound of Jura, twenty miles south of Oban and just off the A816. The National Trust for Scotland was gifted the garden by Edmund and Harry Wright in 1992. Arduaine is well-known in rhododendron circles for its wonderful collection of species and hybrids, many of which are considered tender elsewhere and grow largely under the canopy of mature Japanese larch.

JOB PURPOSE

You will be responsible for the operational delivery of the visitor experience at your properties. Delivering performance standards and targets to ensure enjoyment of the properties by visitors and members is maximized and key commercial, financial and development objectives are achieved to make the property fully sustainable. You will be part of a broader management team responsible for delivering an overall visitor service strategy, promoting good communication across the site and a joined-up service provision. The role works closely with the Head Gardener, Arduaine and Head Gardener, Crarae.

JOB PURPOSE
To backfill the existing VSS Retail who will be covering the VSM role during 2022 at Culloden Battlefield. To ensure that the international award-winning shop maintains its high standards, driving income back towards 2019 levels.

• To support the VSM and the retail team in ensuring that the back-office functions, merchandising, rotas and customer service are all delivered to an excellent standard.

An enthusiastic and conscientious person with excellent customer service and strong social media skills is required to join the team at Dunnottar Castle.

This is a full-time position, 5 days per week, all year round which includes some weekend working. Hours of work do vary depending on season.

In addition to the main duties of working primarily in the Castle, this role will involve the creation and management of social media content for the Castle.

The International Festival has a leading role in the development of creative practice and a history of presenting artworks in support of international relations. EIF operates from three buildings: The Hub on CastleHill is the operational base of the Festival and home to its year-round education & rehearsal activities, as well as performances & other events during the August Festival period. In addition, it leases warehousing space in Leith, and manages a high-end rental property in the Quartermile area of Edinburgh.
The Head of Estates will play a critical leadership role in delivering operational excellence across the EIF estate. You will lead a number of projects to optimise the current estate and establish a future direction for the space occupied by the organisation. These include exploring whether relocation to alternative premises is feasible, establishing future warehouse requirements and sourcing suitable space and managing the refurbishment of existing office space in the Hub.
The Head of Estates is responsible for managing the Estate Operations Team and delivering all aspects of estate management. This includes ensuring Health & Safety obligations are met at all properties and managing the maintenance service programme. The post holder will act as a Responsible Person, liaising with relevant parties regarding use of the buildings, and will liaise with colleagues responsible for Health & Safety in delivering the Festival, to ensure a coherent organisation-wide approach.
Although based at the Hub, Castlehill some flexibility to work across the estate where required is needed. Occasional evening and weekend working is required in this role.

The Visitor Services team in Central region manage public access and safety across 92,000 ha of forests, urban woodland, open hill and agricultural land. The geographically diverse holding includes 112 managed trails, 1 visitor centre and around 40 urban woodlands that support the mental and physical wellbeing of over 2.6 million visitors annually.

West Calder:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, practical and proactive Community Ranger to join the team based at West Calder. This role is varied and exciting, covering a range of sites and communities in eastern central Scotland, including existing forest blocks, urban woodlands and newly establishing forests on reclaimed sites.

Clydebank:
There is an exciting opportunity to join FLS as a Community Ranger based in Clydebank. The post covers various communities and sites around Glasgow – such as Cuningar Loop woodland park. You will plan this community engagement, working closely with the Area Visitor Services Manager and the rest of the beat team. This engagement should be through face to face meetings, continuous professional development, first visits, events programmes and interpretation and use of communication such as press, web and newsletters.
