We are looking for new people to join a team of staff in a busy museum Café . The Waves café, was recently relaunched with an exciting new menu with seafood items now being offered. If you are flexible, willing to work hard at busy periods and able to present an enthusiastic public face to the Museum, helping to promote all it has to offer to visitors, we would like to hear from you.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

The post of Café Assistant is vital to ensuring the Café continues to operate smoothly, profitably and successfully with a very high standard of customer care. The post will involve taking orders, food preparation, serving customers, washing up and cleaning when required whilst maintaining required health and safety records and standards. The Museum Café is open six days a week until further notice.

The Café has developed its menu, particularly in the area of seafood products and recipes and is already offering table service. There is a kitchen as part of the Café and a food preparation area refurbished and equipped for preparing food items for consumption in the café.

Day-to-day Duties:

Under the direction of the Front of House Manager to:

• Ensure an excellent standard of customer care for visitors
• Ensure an excellent standard of cuisine for visitors
• Taking orders and making up orders within the Café kitchen
• Ensure that food preparation areas are kept tidy and clean
• Washing crockery, cutlery and utensils
• Assist in ensuring the health and safety of visitors
• Assist in ordering food from suppliers if required
• Assist with food portion control, service and washing-up as required
• Maintain food hygiene and health and safety records as required
• Respond to and deal with any relevant customer issues e.g. providing allergy information

To maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining the excellent standards we set across our properties to enable us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors. Providing an efficient, reliable service and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property. Specifically, to ensure that all areas and public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, to make the property the best possible place to visit and work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Housekeeper is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the visited, non-visited and holiday accommodation at Culzean Castle and Country Parkas per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual, including the following:

• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness to all visited and non-visited areas of the property as directed by your line manager
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, as toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required etc
• Working with the public, cleaning during trading hours.
• Ensuring site is ready to open and welcome visitors by the set opening time
• Actively support the Trust’s Conservation programme and undertake general housekeeping duties to the highest level of care which may include:
• In line with current NTS best practice, clean and care for the collection of furniture, books, artworks, glass, china silverware, other artefacts and delicate fabrics and curtains
• Checking of collections and domestic inventories during changeover
• Reporting losses/breakages, wear and tear and repairs required immediately to your line manager
• Provide support to enable functions and events to be successfully delivered
• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required
• reporting all H&S hazards, fire risks, and instances of damage and wear and tear issues promptly to the Visitor Services Supervisor,
• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste

• To be first point of contact in case of queries or questions from clients regarding the holiday property and to provide additional service or help when requested.
• Assist with the administration of any repair works, liaising with the Visitor Services Supervisor to arrange necessary repairs.
• Monitor the condition of furniture – reporting any loss or damage to the Visitor Services Manager.
• Ensure COVID 19 Guidelines and Safe Systems of Work is implemented effectively within function and with external contractors.
• Undertake any administration required in support of housekeeping, including (but not limited to): planning regimes for routine and in-depth cleaning; stock control and ordering of recommended cleaning consumables/janitorial supplies; recording work undertaken.
• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g., efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.

In accordance with the property’s procedures, share in the common responsibility for the safe evacuation or management of colleagues and visitors in the event of a fire or security alert or alarm. This includes weekly fire alarm checks whilst cleaning and keeping a record of the checks

• To serve food efficiently from our kitchen, always ensuring friendly customer

• Ensure Seabird Café facilities are clean and of a high quality at all times including

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Brand Homes Duty Manager to join our established, hardworking team at the Glengoyne Distillery on a part time basis. The role holder will be part of the sites management team and be responsible for leading the established team of Distillery Ambassadors, in the delivery of tours, tastings, events, trade visits and all visit related activity to a high standard. We operate annualised hours, therefore previous experience of managing these operationally would be advantageous.

Glengoyne is located North of Glasgow on the A81 at Dumgoyne, and as a result of the location, applicants must live within commuting distance to the distillery and have access to their own transport. We are looking for a Cook to join our Catering team. We welcome hundreds of people each week to our Centre and this role ensures that the variety, quality, and sustainability of food products provided through our Seabird Café contributes to the customer’s overall experience.

The Cook supports the preparation of the food on the menu for our daily service and occasional events.

Principal responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Cook are:

i. Check the quality of ingredients and prepare these to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, preparing salads etc.).
ii. Learn and become familiar with the cooking process, equipment and appliances used to make each of our dishes.
iii. Ensure great presentation of our food, by dressing dishes before they are served.
iv. Cook dishes under the supervision of the Catering Manager or the Chef and develop sufficient competence to provide cover during staff absences/holiday cover.
v. Ensure that all dishes for a single order are ready for serving at the same time and co-ordinate effectively with the café serving team.
vi. Take responsibility for maintaining and cleaning the kitchen area/equipment ensuring that all appropriate standards are met.
vii. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
viii. Monitor stock levels and advise the Catering Manager or Chef of any orders that need to be placed.
ix. Ensure that all duties are undertaken in compliance with health and safety, food standards and hygiene regulations and practices, as well as our internal procedures.
x. Carry out any other reasonable duty which is within the competence of the post.

Essential skills and experience
• Organised with an ability to work effectively in what can be a fast-paced, high-volume business at peak times.

• A confident communicator.
• An appropriate means of transport to get to the Centre (between 0830 and 1800).

Through our exceptional training programme, you will have the skills to lead our guided tours as well as greeting guests, processing bookings and working in our café.

Community Co-production Officer
£31,487 – £34,942 per annum (pro rata)

Culture Perth and Kinross are seeking an individual experienced in community co-production within a cultural or creative setting to lead the development and delivery of a co-produced art display to sit at the heart of the opening exhibition programme for the new Perth Museum opening in 2024. The post-holder will have strong links with currently under-represented groups or communities and a track record of project managing the co-production process and championing community perspectives and creativity within a museum, gallery, or similar visitor attraction environment.

This is a fixed-term post for the development of the temporary exhibition, and will work closely with the Exhibitions team at Perth Museum and Perth Art Gallery, and our partners Perth and Kinross Council.
