As a member of our Visitor Services team your job is to give visitors from across the globe a warm welcome to Culross and help generate the income that enables us to care for The Royal Burgh of Culross.

Visiting Bessie Bar Hall is an essential part of the visitor experience and the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Café is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us.

You’ll help us maximise sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge, taking pride in presentation and effective behind-the-scenes processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times when:
 Welcoming all visitors to the site and processing their catering purchase in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner.
 Assist in food preparation and stock management.
 Answering visitors’ queries about the catering offer, deals, seating, and ingredients.

DIMENSIONS AND SCOPE OF JOB

People Management
 The Property team consists of a Food and Beverage Manager, 2 Visitor Services Supervisors and 3 Visitor Services Assistants. There are no line management responsibilities for this role, but this role works closely with volunteers and members of the wider site team.
 This role involves working with members of the public of all ages and abilities on a daily basis.

Finance Management
 This role will involve cash reconciliation duties as appointed by the Visitor Services Supervisor.

Tools / equipment / systems
 There will be the occasional use of cleaning chemicals.
 Use of kitchen equipment e.g. Coffee machine
 This role will involve manual handling.
 Is expected to work and ensure compliance within the property’s ‘safe systems of work’ (the system for managing health and safety).

There are two roles available both fixed term, part time:

JOB PURPOSE
To maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining the excellent standards we set across our properties to enable us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors. Providing an efficient, reliable service and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property. Specifically, to ensure that all areas and public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, to make the property the best possible place to visit and work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Housekeeper is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the visited, non-visited and holiday accommodation at Culzean Castle and Country Parkas per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual, including the following:

• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness to all visited and non-visited areas of the property as directed by your line manager
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, as toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required etc
• Working with the public, cleaning during trading hours.
• Ensuring site is ready to open and welcome visitors by the set opening time
• Actively support the Trust’s Conservation programme and undertake general housekeeping duties to the highest level of care which may include:
• In line with current NTS best practice, clean and care for the collection of furniture, books, artworks, glass, china silverware, other artefacts and delicate fabrics and curtains
• Checking of collections and domestic inventories during changeover
• Reporting losses/breakages, wear and tear and repairs required immediately to your line manager
• Provide support to enable functions and events to be successfully delivered
• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required
• reporting all H&S hazards, fire risks, and instances of damage and wear and tear issues promptly to the Visitor Services Supervisor,
• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste

• To be first point of contact in case of queries or questions from clients regarding the holiday property and to provide additional service or help when requested.
• Assist with the administration of any repair works, liaising with the Visitor Services Supervisor to arrange necessary repairs.
• Monitor the condition of furniture – reporting any loss or damage to the Visitor Services Manager.
• Ensure COVID 19 Guidelines and Safe Systems of Work is implemented effectively within function and with external contractors.
• Undertake any administration required in support of housekeeping, including (but not limited to): planning regimes for routine and in-depth cleaning; stock control and ordering of recommended cleaning consumables/janitorial supplies; recording work undertaken.
• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g., efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.

In accordance with the property’s procedures, share in the common responsibility for the safe evacuation or management of colleagues and visitors in the event of a fire or security alert or alarm. This includes weekly fire alarm checks whilst cleaning and keeping a record of the checks

The role is a key role within GK. They will maintain the financial records of two separate entities (GK and Outreach) on Xero accounts. Both entities have separate bank accounts, and rely on feeder electronic applications such as Just Giving and Paypal. Most transactions are electronic although with congregational givings, visitor donations and a retail shop cash is used, and requires to be accounted for. This is a wide-ranging role and requires good numeric, IT (XERO, EXCEL and Word), organisational and communication skills and a can-do attitude. With a very small staff this role will also require hands on bookkeeping.

PURPOSE OF POST
To assist in the café of the National Mining Museum Scotland, which will include; preparation of and serving food, assisting with orders and stocktake. The post holder will be part of the front of house team and the role will be customer facing, which will require a high standard of customer service and engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Act as a front of house server for the café and in-house functions; includes preparing hot drinks and serving food.

PURPOSE OF POST

Haddo House

Haddo House is located around 5 miles from the village of Tarves, set within extensive country park, it is a magnificent example of a Scottish stately home in the Palladian style. The elegant and luxurious interior are home to an extensive art collection, including 85 paintings of Aberdeenshire castles by acclaimed Victorian artist James Giles

Outside the terrace garden, there are a series of informal lawns and landscape trees which lead the visitor in to the wider designed landscape and join with the Country Park and the impressive Scots Mile.

This regionally significant House and the wider country park welcome over 200,000 visitors a year; a competent and enthusiastic gardener is required to complete and compliment the staff structure. An eye for detail as well as flair for creating a beautiful visitor environment is essential.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the First gardener in the first instance but reporting to the Head Gardener, to ensure that the garden and estate are managed and maintained to a high standard in line with the aims and objectives of the National Trust for Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Assisting with general horticultural duties to the required standards expected by the Trust and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors. Activities may include:

d. Weeding, watering and feeding
e. Planting out ( under direction of staff)

b. Raking gravel paths

3. Assisting as required with the general enjoyment of the gardens and estate by:
a. Responding to general visitor enquiries
b. Assisting at events held within the garden or on the estate

4. Assisting with interpretation activities such as answering basic horticultural enquiries from visitors and providing clear and accurate plant labeling.

5. Working with the full time staff to foster positive relationships with local communities, visitors and promoting the work of the Trust, and actively seeking opportunities to increase Trust membership

6. Working with volunteers to ensure they deliver required outputs at the appropriate standard and gain benefits from their volunteering

We’re looking for a warm and welcoming person to join our team at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery in the centre of Inverness .

You’ll take responsibility for running our wee café (open Tuesdays to Saturdays throughout the year) supported by the wider High Life Highland Catering Team. Your aim will be to produce and serve great café food and outstanding coffee, whilst helping build up a regular and loyal clientele.

Visiting our Café is an essential part of the visitor experience for those coming to Newhailes House and Gardens the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Kitchen Assistant is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us. Our café is a busy operation, and the ideal candidate should be experienced in a high volume, fast paced environment.
You will assist the Head Chef in the day to day management of the kitchen to ensure that all targets are met and that all visitors receive the highest level of visitor experience standards.
You must have full weekend availability, hours will be issued on a rota basis.
We pride ourselves on creating a team work ethic here at Newhailes House so you may be required for additional support with other areas such as serving in the cafe.

SCOPE OF ROLE
Location
The post holder will be based at Newhailes but may also be expected to work in other Edinburgh cluster properties and at special events/functions when required.
People Management
The post holder does not direct line manage any team.
Financial Management
Not a budget holder but responsible for the day- to -day management of stock
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
Essential
 Experience working in a similar, quick service, environment and delivering the best visitor service.
 Practical experience of food preparation and service.
 Previous experience working in a team.
 Ability to follow instruction and work independently off own initiative.
 Skill in establishing priorities and managing workload.
 Keen interest in food.
Desirable
 Awareness of what the National Trust for Scotland sets out to achieve.
 High standard of presentation and service (experience an advantage).
 Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
