We’re looking for a seasonal part time Catering Assistant with a genuine willingness to provide a world-class visitor experience to join our busy catering team. As part of this friendly team, you’ll be responsible for waiting on tables, barista duties, providing excellent customer service, operating the till, cash handling and some cleaning duties. This role will include working weekends. 

Mount Stuart House & Gardens reopen for the season on Friday 7th April 2023. Applications are now open to join our established seasonal team.

As the first point of contact for visitors, the Visitor Welcome Assistant provides visitors with the information they need for an enjoyable and memorable visit. The Visitor Welcome Assistant is responsible for; welcoming visitors, selling tickets, assisting with orientation, up-selling membership, processing cash and card transactions including retail sales, and cashing up at the end of each shift.

It is essential that the Visitor Welcome Assistant has great communication skills and the ability to work alone under pressure. Strong IT skills and competency using electronic point of sale systems are desirable.

The role is paid hourly and is fixed term March-October with a start date w/c 27th March. The attraction opens Saturday to Wednesday in April, May, June, September and October, and candidates must be available to work this pattern including bank holiday dates. The attraction opens daily in July and August, and shift patterns will vary during this period.

We’re looking for a number of Seasonal Visitor Experience Assistants to work at Edinburgh Zoo during our peak Summer periods: April, July, August and October. Training will take place in March. The role

Providing a first-class sales and customer service experience to all visitors at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and by providing information and assistance and ensuring an environment that is engaging and well maintained.

Some of the things you’ll do:

Provide first-class customer service by maintaining a positive, welcoming environment, proactive and helpful attitude to all visitors at all times, meeting or exceeding our Customer Service Standards.

Ensure all front of house areas are maintained to the highest standard, ensuring stocks are regularly replenished, all areas are clean and clear, all products are displayed and merchandised as directed.

Operate admissions system efficiently and effectively to both sell and upsell products.
To support the operation of the car park, including directing cars to spaces and assisting with ticket payments and enquiries

Act as a responsible driver for on-site visitor transport on a rostered basis (subject to licence)

What we’re looking for:

Good achievement in standard grades (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.

Accurate numerical reasoning skills and attention to detail.

Full driving licence, held for at least one year (desirable)

Use of electronic cash till.

Providing first-class customer care and service, including dealing with customer queries.

We are looking for flexible full-time seasonal guides who will give castle tours and answer visitor queries in an idyllic setting. You will describe unique castle and family history, and help visitors transport back in time through our varied artifacts, exhibitions, and stories.

Inveraray Castle is one of Scotland’s most famous stately homes with a rich history, so the applicant should enjoy history and sharing it with visitors from across the world. Being multilingual is an additional bonus, but not a must, and full training is provided.

Ensure the coach park is operated efficiently to maintain pre-booked spaces, deal with coach parties and communicate arrivals to Castle kiosk
Ensure the main car park is operating efficiently
Keep car/coach park areas tidy and free from litter
Deal with camper van space availability
Painting around parking areas
Regular checks on cleanliness and condition of temporary toilet block
Ensure consumable stocks in toilet block are maintained throughout the day
Cleaning of toilet block at the end of the day

Job title: Food Manager

Reports to: Office Manager, with line management responsibility of the Food Team

Hours: Minimum 22 hours, but flexibility throughout operational hours is required, Monday to Sunday.

Seasonal/Permanent: This is a seasonal role with an anticipated end date of 24th December 2023.

Rate of pay: Salary is anticipated to be £22,880 pro-rata – this is open to discussion at interview.

Purpose of role:

This role contributes to the success of Grampian Transport Museum by exceeding visitor expectations in our food functions – Motorbites (our in-house tearoom), Cromptons (outdoor coffee van) and ad-hoc catering requests. This will include managing the end to end food business, ensuring the operation is profitable and sustainable, in line with Grampian Transport Museum’s objectives.

Key responsibilities:

– Supporting the end to end food business of the museum.

– Welcoming visitors in our food spaces, preparing and serving their orders and upselling appropriately.

– Ordering, counting and replenishing stock, recording waste and taking action where necessary.

– Managing the team, preparing their schedules to a given budget and handling their requests.

– Escalating any issues where needed to the Office Manager and/or Museum Manager.

– Develop new menus, prepare full costs and margin, ensuring profitability and sustainability.

– Take responsibility for ensuring all tasks are completed, performing management checks and following up where standards are not followed.

– Comply with our health and safety policies and procedures, giving feedback where necessary.

Key skills required:

– IT literacy is essential as many of our processes are digital.

– Exceptional customer service skills are essential to this role as it is customer facing.

– Knowledge of managing a food business, though this is not essential as training will be provided.

– Team working skills are essential, alongside good communication skills.

– Level 3 Food Safety qualification, with experience of working in a food environment and food handling.

No specialist knowledge is required, but an interest in museums and being willing to learn about our collection is essential. Full training will be provided.

We are looking for professional and motivated individuals to represent one of Dumfries & Galloway’s finest tourist destinations during the 2023 season.

In this customer facing role, you will assist with general maintenance of the playground and garden areas. Maintenance responsibilities will include litter picking, emptying bins, and ensuring the playground area is maintained in excellent condition for our visitors via playground checks (training will be provided for this). Garden duties will include weeding, watering, and strimming, as well as helping visitors in our garden centre. Working hours will be 7.45am to 4.30pm on a 4 days on, 4 days off basis, including weekends.
