Café Supervisor
Organisation: Bowhill House & Country Park
Salary: £28,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Selkirk
Seasonal (until 31 October 2026)
What do we do? Buccleuch is a diverse and innovative business with a passion for sustainable land use in rural Britain. At Bowhill House, one of our four unique heritage destinations and a hidden treasure in the Scottish Borders, visitors are spoiled for choice. They can enjoy a woodland walk, marvel at our beautiful gardens, explore the adventure playground, take a guided tour, and treat themselves to home baking and delicious lunches in the Old Kitchen Café or refreshments from The Horsebox.
The role? In this hands-on seasonal role you will help lead front-of-house catering operations throughout the busy summer and autumn seasons. Working across the Old Kitchen Café and The Horsebox outlet, you will support daily service, supervise front-of-house colleagues, prepare and serve food and drinks, keep stock and supplies well organised, and help ensure every visitor receives a friendly, efficient and memorable experience. You will also work closely with the management team to support wider events and activities, providing regular duty management cover on a rota basis. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week over five days, including weekends.
The person? You will bring proven supervisory and front-of-house experience, along with practical food preparation skills and knowledge of food hygiene standards. Just as importantly, you will enjoy working with people, taking pride in delivering high standards of service, and be comfortable using your initiative in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and support colleagues will be key. Access to your own transport is essential due to our rural location.
Why work for us? We offer excellent benefits including six weeks’ pro-rata holiday, gym and shopping discounts, and wellbeing-related support and resources.
