The Role
We have three exciting opportunities to join our operational team as a Catering Assistant at Kirkcaldy Galleries and Adam Smith Theatre.

As a Catering Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of the onsite catering team, responsible for running the café, preparing and serving fresh local food and beverages, handling & recording payments through epos till systems, and supporting general kitchen, bar, and dining room duties. You will also ensure that all work areas and public spaces are safe, while providing exceptional customer service. You will also support Adam Smith Theatre to deliver food and drink service at all their events, film screenings, private and corporate hires.

These permanent positions offer a usual working pattern of 28 hours per week and 11.5 hours per week at Kirkcaldy Galleries and 20.75 hours per week at Adam Smith Theatre but flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the business, including weekend and evening shifts. While these posts will be based in either Cafe Wemyss in Kirkcaldy Galleries or the Spinning Top Cafe & Bar in the Adam Smith Theatre, we are looking for team members with the flexibility to work across both venues as required.

About You
This role will suit someone who enjoys working in customer service environments and interacting with the public in a café / bar setting.

You will ideally have previous experience in a catering and/or customer service role. Knowledge of working in bars and barista training is highly desirable, as is previous knowledge of health and safety requirements and an understanding of allergens in the food environment.

You should be confident working both independently and as part of a team. Energetic and flexible, you’ll bring a positive ‘can do’ attitude to your work. Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills are essential.

You’ll take pride in maintaining a professional, welcoming environment and delivering courteous service to all visitors.
