Chief Executive Officer

Organisation: ASVA

Salary: Up to £56,000

Location: Home based

The Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) is looking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to deliver our strategic aims and continue to support our industry. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly respected organisation that represents the vibrant Visitor Attraction sector within Scottish tourism.

Founded in 1988, ASVA is the representative body for the visitor attractions sector in Scotland. The organisation represents, connects, supports and inspires the attractions sector, lobbying and advocating to ensure that our industry’s voice is heard.  It also provides advice, information, statistics, networking and training to help drive forward quality within the industry and support our members in their aspirations.

ASVA is a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation with over 500 member sites. Our vision is:

‘To support & inspire Scottish visitor attractions to deliver outstanding experiences for each and every visitor’

And this is reflected in our mission:

‘ASVA leads and supports its members by sharing expertise, removing barriers, creating opportunities, and encouraging innovation within the Scottish visitor attraction sector’

ASVA plays a central role in Scotland’s tourism industry, and is widely recognised as the voice of authority on all matters relating to Scottish visitor attractions.

This is a key period for the organisation, as the industry slowly starts to recover from the devastating impact of the covid pandemic. ASVA is currently in year two of the delivery of a five-year strategic plan, with the organisation enjoying a sustained period of growth and high levels of engagement with our members. The CEO will be expected to deliver on the ambitious aims set out in our strategic plan and continue to grow the organisation, both economically and reputationally.

Travel to represent the organisation at internal and external meetings will be required. ASVA has a very small but highly effective team of staff and it is the responsibility of the CEO to ensure the effective and efficient organisation of day to day administration including financial operations and delivery of member benefits, including the annual conference in November each year.

The successful candidate should also be comfortable working with the media including print journalists, radio and TV interviews

The recognition of the key role of attractions within tourism is widely acknowledged and ASVA’s standing within the industry has never been higher. In this context we need an experienced CEO to ensure this momentum continues.

Closing date for applications – Noon 26th June 2023. Please send your CV with a covering letter to Sally Rae Sally.Rae@edenscott.com. For further details on the role summary and main responsibilities, please also contact Sally Rae.
