Heritage Engagement Officer (Schools and Families)

Part time at 20 hours over 3 days – one year (with possibility for extension)
Salary: £13,800 (pro rata FTE £24,151 – Grade 3)
Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott in the Scottish Borders, is one of Scotland’s most important heritage sites, one hour south of Edinburgh by road and rail. Abbotsford was designed and built by Sir Walter Scott as both his home and the location for his extensive collection of books and historical memorabilia, first opened to the public in 1833, and continuing to inspire visitors to this day.
The Heritage Engagement Officer (Schools and Families) lead on the development and delivery the programmes for both school groups and families. This will involve creating resources and activities, and facilitating engagement experiences for formal and non-formal learners of a variety of ages, such as school sessions, BookBugs, and ‘Family Fridays’. The postholder will also work closely with the Heritage and Community Manager to develop and facilitate a schools Access and Travel Scheme.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with previous experience in developing and delivering learning or engagement programmes in a heritage setting.
