Setting the scene

The revival of the iconic Rosebank Distillery, which is located in the heart of Falkirk, is well and truly underway and we couldn’t be more delighted!

For those who don’t know our story, Rosebank was revered by whisky connoisseurs the world over as the ‘King of the Lowlands’. There was a beautiful juxtaposition in one of the lightest, most floral Scotch whiskies ever, being distilled in Scotland’s heavy industry central belt. This contrast was reflected in the unique production technique of marrying worm tub condensers and triple distillation… resulting in light/full contrast in flavour, making it a category defining Lowland single malt Scotch whisky.

The early 1990s were a dark time for many in the industry as global whisky sales were in sharp decline. As a casualty of this era, Rosebank then sadly closed its doors in 1993. Fast forward however to 2017… we (Ian Macleod Distillers) acquired the site and brand, and wholeheartedly committed to breathe new life into the buildings and their surrounding community.

Now, in 2023, with the construction and renovation work nearing completion, our production team have recently gained access to the distillery and were full of nerves and excitement as we fired up production and distilled for the first time in 30 years – a very special moment for us indeed! Whilst production is now underway, we are taking steps to finalise construction and put the finishing touches to our brand home (visitor attraction), ready for the next major milestone, as we open the doors and welcome visitors into this iconic distillery – an exciting time for both us and the local community in Falkirk!

Our opportunities…

As we continue preparations for the full site opening next year, we are currently looking to expand our Housekeeping team with the addition of two Housekeepers, who will join us at this very exciting time in our journey!

So… if you are passionate about cleanliness, presentation and maintaining high standards, then this could be the perfect role for you! We’re looking for someone who is efficient, can use their own initiative, has a positive work attitude and displays strong attention to detail and dedication. In addition, a warm and friendly personality will fit in well amongst the team. The day to day activities will include full cleaning of the distillery and back office areas, ensuring it remains clean and well maintained at all times. The full job profile can be viewed below.

We offer a highly competitive hourly rate of £12 with the addition of a comprehensive benefits package. These are permanent opportunities which will be offered on an annualised hours contract basis. For context, it is anticipated the successful candidates will work on a ‘4 from 7 day’ basis c. 24 hours per week. The working pattern may involve early mornings, evenings and weekend working, particularly in future once we are fully operational, therefore we are looking for individuals with flexibility. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate that they currently have the required documents to live and work in the UK.
