The role

Co-ordinate the daily visitor operations at Highland Wildlife Park, ensuring the delivery of an accessible, exciting, and secure visitor attraction, five-star customer service standards and income levels in line with agreed targets.

Act as duty manager on a rostered basis, liaising closely with the living collections duty manager and other colleagues. Manage incidents and their impact on visitors as and when they arise

1x 30hr fixed term until end October 2023

Some of the things you’ll do:

Line manage visitor experience assistants and assist with gate ( sentry), administration, on-site transport, car park and customer service, e.g. telephone and email handling
Contribute to and support the delivery of commercial events at HWP including photography tours, seasonal events and exclusive tours (including duty manager duties during events)
Act as visitor duty manager on a rostered basis, which requires the post holder to manage and oversee the daily operations of the site during opening hours and respond to incidents
Support the delivery of a five-star customer service culture and visitor experience, ensuring visitors receive a personal, knowledgeable and positive level of service on a daily basis
Support and deliver customer service training, working alongside HR and other colleagues. Gather face to face visitor feedback.
Support the induction process for visitor experience staff

What we’re looking for:

Educated to HND or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Health and Safety qualification e.g. IOSHH with good working knowledge of Health and safety practices.

JOB PURPOSE
To maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining the excellent standards we set across our properties to enable us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors. Providing an efficient, reliable service and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property. Specifically, to ensure that all areas and public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, to make the property the best possible place to visit and work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Housekeeper is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the visited, non-visited and holiday accommodation at Crathes Castle and Estate per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual, including the following:

• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste

• Assist with the administration of any repair works, liaising with the Visitor Services Supervisor to arrange necessary repairs.
• Ensure COVID 19 Guidelines and Safe Systems of Work is implemented effectively within function and with external contractors.
• Undertake any administration required in support of housekeeping, including (but not limited to): planning regimes for routine and in-depth cleaning; stock control and ordering of recommended cleaning consumables/janitorial supplies; recording work undertaken.
• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.
• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness to all visited and non-visited areas of the property as directed by your line manager
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, as toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required etc
• Checking of domestic inventories during changeover
• Reporting losses/breakages, wear and tear and repairs required immediately to your line manager

Visiting our Café is an essential part of the visitor experience for those coming to Newhailes House and Gardens the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Food & Beverage is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us. Our café is a busy operation, and the ideal candidate should be experienced in a high volume, fast paced environment. Barista experience would be beneficial for this role however training will be given.

Core hours will be the minimum hours available, with the opportunity to work additional hours to suit the needs of the business. Must have full weekend availability, hours will be issued on a rota basis.

We are looking to recruit a Head Conservation Housekeeper. The ideal candidate will come from a background of conservation housekeeping within a museum or historic house environment, with at least 2 years experience.
They shall be expected to organise and assist with conservation of the castle, with our archivist and housekeeping team. Cleaning duties in all areas of Blair Castle. As a frequent contact with our visitors is part of the daily routine, a smart appearance and a high standard of customer care are expected.

Duties will include; Monitor and rectify if necessary housekeepers performance, demeanour and attitude towards visitors.

Monitor and rectify if necessary housekeepers’ attitudes towards timekeeping.
Resolve minor disciplinary incidents directly involving the team and refer any incidents with wider implications or that require recording to the head housekeeper.
Carry out the conservation cleaning programme and general housekeeping as devised and directed by the Housekeeping & Castle Manager in all areas of the building
Take an active role in monitoring the condition of all items and report immediately any signs of deterioration

Security Systems

Support Security Attendants by monitoring all security and safety systems including fire safety, CCTV, intruder alarms, and other building management systems.

Have an up-to-date knowledge of all NGS operational procedures and requirements of any exhibitions, displays and events and coach and develop Security Attendants to gain and use their expertise to enhance security and deliver an excellent colleague and visitor experience.

Team Management/Leadership

Lead a team of Security Attendants including recruitment, induction, training, development, and performance.

Manage the Security Attendants to ensure that best practice is followed regards health, safety, and welfare.

The Estate rental portfolio comprises let farms, grass park lets, cottages, industrial premises and telecoms and renewable leases. In-hand enterprises include forestry, country sports, Castle Kennedy Gardens, and events at Lochinch Castle.

We are seeking a Visitor Services Manager to join the team to focus on Castle Kennedy Gardens and play a pivotal role ensuring that the management objectives of Stair Estates are achieved through excellent customer service, and with delegated responsibility for tourism, catering, retail, events, and duty management and will be the “face” of Stair Estates to visitors and suppliers.

The position is primarily responsible for delivering the highest standard of visitor experience for all visitors to Castle Kennedy Gardens where they will ensure the efficient and profitable running of Castle Kennedy Gardens Shop, Plant Centre, and Tea Room as a successful commercial enterprise and consistent with its status as a 4* Visitor Attraction.

The role involves leading and managing a small team of staff, managing performance, recognising training needs and potential where appropriate.

Responsibilities include day to day management of the Shop, Tea Room and Plant Centre, and as line manager to the Shop and Tea Room staff. Strategic, creative, and financial management of the gift shop and tearoom, ensuring that innovative ideas and current trends in catering are being delivered, manging the till and stock, generating weekly report, and constantly looking at ways to maximise income through effective purchasing and creative merchandising.

The role will be responsible for all aspects of the visitor experience for individual and group visits, and will involve regular monitoring of customer feedback, mystery visitor and Visit Scotland audits and the development of suitable action plans depending on the results.

The position will assist with the annual marketing programme, working where appropriate with internal and external marketing support, reporting to the Estate Factor and the Owners, the Earl and Countess of Stair.

As the role develops there is scope for the post holder to take over responsibility of managing and developing the visitor experience at the Holiday Cottages working closely with Housekeeping and the Properties Manager, take responsibility for managing the visitor experience for a varied programme of sporting activities and be responsible for planning, implementing and reviewing a wide range of annual events.

Skills and experience required:

• Experience in retail and visitor services sectors, ideally within another Visitor Attraction, Hospitality, Tourism or similar operation.
• Experience supervising and motivating staff
• Ability to demonstrate good health and safety awareness
• Excellent written communication, copywriting, and proof-reading skills (blogging, vlogging and social networks)
• A good understanding of public expectations of a garden attraction
• An appreciation of marketing, promotion and the influence of social media
• An enjoyment of rural life and working on an Estate
• Full driver’s license is required

Salary is up to £34k dependent on skills and experience plus company benefits.

Security: endeavoring to keep people, our buildings and works of art safe, responding effectively to risk.

Income generation: encouraging donations, selling tickets for paying exhibitions, and signing up visitors to our Friends scheme.

Working with Operations Managers across our Galleries, you will take responsibility for contributing to the smooth, safe running of our Galleries and your duties will include:

Operations Management

Motivate, coach, and manage Gallery Attendants to ensure an exceptional standard of visitor and artwork care, safety, security and building presentation.

Act as Duty Manager on a rota basis when required supporting Operations Managers to deliver all aspects of public and asset safety and security and visitor care during opening hours.

Communicating effectively and proactively across departments, gathering, and sharing information with other visitor-facing colleagues.

Being prepared to assist in safe evacuation of our buildings in the event of any incident or emergency.

Visitor Engagement

Support Gallery Attendants and other visitor-facing staff by responding to and dealing effectively with visitor queries or complaints, taking prompt and appropriate action to resolve any issues.

Have an up-to-date knowledge of all NGS exhibitions, displays and events, and coach and develop Gallery Attendants to gain and use their expertise to enhance visitor experience.

Team Management/Leadership

Lead a team of Gallery Attendants including recruitment, induction, training, development, and performance.

Lead the Gallery Attendants team to ensure that best practice is followed regards health, safety, and wellbeing.

Support colleagues working as Security Supervisors.

Our Visitor Experience department is now looking for Seasonal Visitor Assistant & Evening Guides who are enthusiastic, with a smart appearance, excellent communication skills and a passion for exceptional customer care.
The job is based in our Visitor Centre and on board Britannia. The position can be physically demanding as you will be standing throughout the duration of your shift.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing a warm welcome to visitors.
• Interacting with visitors throughout their tour.
• Helping visitors use their audio handset.
• Assisting with queue management.
• Working as a guide at Britannia’s exclusive evening events and private tours (£40 per event).
• Any other Visitor Assistant duties as required.
