JOB PURPOSE
To welcome visitors to the property, promote and sell Trust Membership, sell admissions tickets and control visitor entry/flow, facilitating their access and enjoyment to Culzean Castle and Country Park.

A Visitor Services Assistant is crucial to our visitors’ “first impression” of the property and in establishing and maintaining the Trust’s reputation as a guardian of Scotland’s heritage and as the organisation that actively wants people to engage with and enjoy the properties it cares for. As you will be working in a customer-facing role, this means you will directly engage with visitors on arrival (and often at departure) so excellence in customer care is paramount, as you will be responsible for ensuring you are providing our Visitors with the best entry options (Membership, admissions tickets, guidebooks). The Visitor Services Assistant is expected to meet (if not exceed) sales targets for, particularly Memberships and Guidebooks. You are also expected to be knowledgeable and actively engage with our visitors and provide general “tourist information” for the locality and other nearby Trust properties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
This is a key role to deliver a high-quality visitor experience at Culzean Castle and Country Park (including but not limited to):

• To provide excellent customer service.
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed including responding to customer enquiries, answering the telephone, recording statistics, cleaning Paybox at the end of the day and ensuring the entrance is secure at the end of the day.
• Working with the Visitor Services Supervisor and the rest of the Visitor Services Team to deliver membership targets and KPI’s
• Cash reconciliation duties including end of day administration tasks. Ensuring cash is handled accurately according to our cash handling procedures.
• To ensure high levels of accuracy are maintained for all transactions and data recording
• To actively ensure all selling opportunities are touched on through strong product knowledge and an excellent customer service to maximise sales of admission tickets, membership and donations.

JOB PURPOSE

The Seasonal Ranger will support the Culzean Rangers team during the busy summer months. Specifically, to combine responsibilities on nature conservation, visitor services, learning and community engagement to help deliver the strategic objectives of the property and wider National Trust for Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Visitor Services
• Welcoming and engaging visitors, enhancing their experience by providing information about Culzean, its geology, natural and cultural heritage, including strong messages around safety and respect for wildlife.
• Encourage people to further contribute to caring for Culzean through donating or taking up membership of NTS.
• Assist with practical countryside management including litter picks, beach cleans maintenance and safety checks of visitor infrastructure (including play parks).
• Lead and assist with events such as guided walks and talks as appropriate.

Nature conservation
• Contribute to biological monitoring programmes.
• Manage and collate biological information in a consistent manner compatible with Trust and national datasets.

Learning
• Assist with educational and other outreach activities on site or to the local community and to communities of interest, including for volunteers.

Marketing & Communications
• Enthusiastically promote awareness and understanding of the role that NTS plays in protecting and caring for Culzean and wider work across Scotland.
• Regularly update and contribute positive stories to NTS social media and other communication outlets relevant to Culzean.
Livestock Management
• Will support the team with feeding and care of the property’s livestock; deer and llama.

Other responsibilities
• Ensure that all activities undertaken are compliant with the Trust’s health and safety policies and procedures including the Safe System of Work, Visitor Safety in the Countryside, and environmental policy and practices, mindful of impacts on people and environment.
• Contribute knowledge and experience to projects and management decisions within the NTS Plan for Nature.
• Criminal records (Disclosure Scotland) checking and clearance essential for safeguarding of children/vulnerable adults. The role is one for which the duties/responsibilities/accountabilities of the role will require staff to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

DIMENSIONS AND SCOPE OF JOB

Scale
• Formerly the home of the Marquess of Ailsa and the Kennedy family and with a history dating back to the sixteenth century, Culzean Castle and its landscaped grounds was acquired by the Trust in 1945 and is generally considered one of the flag-ship Trust properties. The Country Park extending to about 286 hectares, is visited by around 300,000 visitors each year, who come to enjoy the wildlife and scenery, of which the gardens, woodland and coastline are an integral part. The Country Park is open all year and the castle from April to October.

People Management
• No line management responsibility but will be required to supervise volunteers on occasion.
• Part of a team consisting of Head Ranger and two permanent Ranges.
• Will have regular interaction with members of the public of all ages and abilities. Culzean attracts around 300,000 visitors each season.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the garden and grounds team to ensure that the gardens and policies of Culzean Castle are managed and maintained as an internationally-recognised landscape of outstanding historical importance; contributing to the property’s overall conservation and development, and its enjoyment by visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring the conservation and practical maintenance of the gardens and grounds.
• Ensure all work is delivered to the highest standard as agreed by the Head Gardener.
• Working with the rest of the Garden & Grounds team in preparing the estate for visitors’ enjoyment, this will include:
o Grass Cutting
o Strimming
o Weeding
o Assist with waste disposal, (ranging from domestic waste bins to large scale skip and recycling)
o Hedge Trimming
o Pathways, Boardwalk, small bridge repairs.
o Assisting with brush/ scrub/ tree clearance
o Other tasks as required

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a member of the Retail & Admissions team you are on the front line delivering the income that allows the National Trust for Scotland to look after Pitmedden Garden.

Your role will provide world-class customer service; ensuring the shop is presented to the highest possible standard both in terms of product display and amazing visitor experience.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide operational coordination and supervision of catering at Leith Hall in line with the Trust’s policies, priorities, performance standards and targets to contribute to the enjoyment of the property by visitors and members, and help ensure commercial, financial, and conservation objectives are achieved.
The Visitor Services Supervisor at a Trust property plays a pivotal role ensuring that the management objectives are achieved through excellent customer service and, with delegated responsibility for catering, retail, events and duty management is very often the “face” of the Trust to visitors and suppliers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supervising/undertaking the day-to-day operation of the property and environs to ensure an excellent customer/visitor experience. This includes supervision of:
• Catering offer, including ordering, merchandising, sales targets;
• Line management of Visitor Services Assistants and volunteers

• Ensure the property social media is managed to generate interest, engagement and help drive visitors

• Supervising/undertaking the day-to-day operation of the Museum and environs to ensure an excellent customer/visitor experience. This includes:

JOB PURPOSE

To provide operational coordination and supervision of retail, admissions, membership recruitment and visitor services at Drum Castle in line with the Trust’s policies, priorities, performance standards and targets to contribute to the enjoyment of the property by visitors and members, and help ensure commercial, financial, and conservation objectives are achieved.

A key aspect of this role it to support the commercial performance of the retail offer at Drum Castle by encouraging increased turnover and maximizing visitor enjoyment by offering a high quality service based on our customer needs and expectations. This role is essential to deliver excelled performance of retail and admission sales and the profitability delivers a positive contribution to the financial sustainability of Drum Castle.

The Visitor Services Supervisor plays a pivotal role ensuring that the management objectives are achieved through excellent customer service, and, with delegated responsibility for retail, events and duty management is very often the “face” of the Trust to visitors and suppliers. As such, s/he directly influences public perceptions of the Trust and is crucial to developing and maintaining the property’s local/national reputation.

The successful candidate will be expected to work weekends

The post holder will be a key holder and expected to provide duty manager cover when required.

• EPOS management: Supporting property staff to operate the EPOS system effectively and adhere to operating procedures; Analyse and interpret sales and stock data from EPOS and use to optimise income opportunities and pass onto PM to drive this through.

• Effective Retail Stock & Space Management: Manage stock availability, ensuring the property has the right stock and is managed effectively. Utilizing key data (from EPOS) to assist in the plan of the retail footprint at the property in line with the property’s visitor profile;

• Working closely with other managers across the Property to deliver a programme of visitor events, which increase visitor numbers, drive secondary spend and support overall Property targets;
