KEY PURPOSE
To assist and support the property and gardens team in the conservation, care and presentation of the property’s kitchen garden, designed landscape and estate, ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards and to the enjoyment of all visitors and supporters, whether through delegation to other staff/volunteers, or personal work. The garden is managed, maintained and developed to provide produce to sell on site, and to use in the café, contributing to the property’s overall conservation and development, and its enjoyment by visitors and supporters. Newhailes is a 34-hectare designed landscape including woodland, water gardens, follies, open fields and arable land.

Purpose of the role

Day to day management of the Catering Department at Newhailes stables cafe. To help ensure that all targets are met and that all visitors experience the highest level of guest satisfaction during their visit.

Key Responsibilities
• Support in the development of the Menu Cycle/Specification.
• Contribute to food production as per the Menu Cycle/Specification and event Food Production (corporate, hospitality, meetings etc.).
• Keeping up to date HACCP, COSHH checklists and temperature sheets.
• Ensure high standards of Kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, tidiness and related schedules.
• Use fresh produce and ingredients whenever and wherever is possible and minimise wastage.
• Maintain a high standard of food presentation to the customer.
• Share in the common responsibility of implementing the Trust’s “Health & Safety Policy”, being mindful at all times of the health and safety of self, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, considered use of transport.
• Help to reduce occurrences where Health or Safety of yourself and other employees may be put in jeopardy.
• Adherence to the COSHH Training provided and control of substances covered by COSHH.
• Involvement in the upkeep and maintenance of both the entire department site and, specifically, the Catering Outlets.
• Involvement in assessing and preserving the safety of utensils and equipment used within the Catering Outlets.

Accurate plant records are essential, to ensure legal compliance, safe management of the collections, and for supporting visitor engagement and research. Working with the newly implemented IrisBG database, this project represents a major investment in our plant collections and will result in up-to-date plant records across the Trust. The completed inventory will help us safeguard the collections and will provide our property and gardens staff with a reliable, accessible source of collections information for interpretation and visitor enjoyment.

The purpose of the role is to deliver a large scale NTS-wide plant collections inventory on time, and within budget. Reporting to the Curator of Plant Collections, the post-holder will have responsibility for managing the relationships between the PLANTS project and NTS operational teams, programme timetabling and logistics, and for monitoring and adapting the overall programme of work for up to ten project staff, working in three regional teams. The post holder will lead on quality assurance and will ensure the project delivers consistent inventory standards across the three teams to ensure that NTS achieves an accurate record of the garden plants in its care.

The purpose of this post is to provide administrative support to the Project Manager and the rest of the PLANTS Project teams who will be based at NTS regional offices across Scotland. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will be responsible for managing all travel and subsistence, administration and communication for the Inventory Teams.

JOB PURPOSE
As the NTS adjusts to new ways of working we are embarking on an ambitious review of the content of our corporate archive, the service delivery model, and the long-term storage of the archive. The NTS archives include collections currently held at a number of properties and offices across Scotland, as well as Hermiston Quay, the NTS headquarters building. This exciting new role will work closely with the NTS Archivist to lead an ambitious programme of work developing a strategy and action plan for the future management of the Trust’s corporate and historic property archives, both physical and digital. The NTS has already started to plan this programme of review and development with support from expert archive consultants. The post-holder will be expected to further develop the programme, to manage a small project team, and co-ordinate a programme of work spanning several years including engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and playing a key role in the development of a costed options appraisal to find a new home for the archives for when the NTS vacates its Head Office in 2025.

Full Time position based in Edinburgh (37 hrs. excluding meal breaks)

NGS Publishing is an established fine art and photography publisher. This includes a wide range of material for the NGS such as exhibition catalogues and books as well as catalogues and guides to the permanent collection. The team produces around ten new titles a year as well as managing a rolling programme of reprints.

The NGS publishing team is part of the NGS Trading Company which is responsible for the commercial exploitation and distribution of NGS publications. It also sells to the book trade worldwide via its distributor, ACC.

The small in-house team is responsible for overseeing the varied publishing programme and project managing individual projects, with freelance support. The Publishing Coordinator will assist the Publisher and the Publishing Project Editor the publishing programme as well as working with ACC and the Trading Company. The Publishing Coordinator will report to the Publishing Projects Editor.

The role

To carry out a range of clerical and administrative support and coordination duties, to ensure the smooth running of the department, following predetermined procedures and service standards; acting under appropriate guidance and direction, in support of RZSS’ legislative and managerial needs and its vision and mission. Being a front-line ambassador for the department. Maintaining communication with all key stake holders.

Some of the things you’ll do

Support line manager with the running of the department by providing a full range of administration service and support duties, e.g. collation of weekly and monthly reports; act as the first point of contact for the department to both external and internal customers and representing the department and attending meetings. Issuing urgent tasks in absence of line manager. Liaising daily with staff, suppliers and contractors face to face, over the telephone and email. Dealing with correspondence and arranging staff travel, meetings and appointments for the department.
Coordinate activities, calling out and arranging contractors for service maintenance jobs i.e. vehicle maintenance, heating etc. and manage and maintain records related to the services, processes and bookings systems provided to others out with the department according to agreed procedures, ensuring agreed standards are met.
Perform a range of financial and HR administrative services for the department in liaison with the Finance and HR Departments adhering to agreed timelines and standards.
Coordinate material ordering and stock control processes for the department, working to agreed procedures, budgets and standards.
Coordinate local IT support and other equipment maintenance, working with the appropriate specialist departments adhering to agreed procedures, budgets and standards.

What we’re looking for:

Good qualifications at Standard level (including English & Mathematics) or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Assertive communicator, confident in dealing with queries from across the Society and the ability to use a range of influencing skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external people on the phone, email and face to face
Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working with minimal supervision, demonstrating good organisational skills, e.g. prioritising workload and accommodate changing priorities.

The role

To prepare, cook or bake (role depending) all food for RZSS Highland Wildlife Park food outlets that deliver
the highest standards of produce which not only exceeds our visitor expectations in flavour, substance and
presentation, but is also in support of RZSS vision and mission.

This is a permanent position where the working hours are 37.5 hours per week and weekend working will be required.

Some of the things you’ll do:

* Working with direction from the Catering Coordinator, prepare all raw food in line with hygiene legislation, minimising all food wastage through effective production. This can involve either cooking the day’s menu options or baking.
* Ensure all food presented is of the highest quality, making sure of dietary requirements.
* Assist with the set-up of the kitchen on a day to day basis.
* Contribute to an effective ordering and stock control procedures by having an accurate knowledge of stock and informing Catering Coordinator when stocks are low.
* Take responsibility for delivery and return processes, reconciliation, discrepancies and ensuring all stock is safely stored and easily accessible in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
* Actively be involved in improving storage and stock and stock control systems, suggesting improvements in the overall layout and organisation.
* Contribute to menu development and the analysis of food quantity and quality.

What we’re looking for:

* You’ll be qualified to SVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification or relevant experience preferable
* Have a good understanding of legislative requirements regarding food preparation and delivery.
* Can demonstrate high level of catering competence.
