JOB PURPOSE
To provide all-round assistance in the art gallery and craft shop at Souter Johnnie’s Gallery, Kirkoswald. The Supervisor will be involved in arranging new exhibitions, liaising with artists and buyers and record-keeping. They will make sure that exhibits are well coordinated and will work with artists in planning and organization of exhibitions and events. The Supervisor will be the sole member of staff on site and, as such, will also provide excellent customer service in the property. They will also be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of local volunteers. The Supervisor is the face of the gallery and will interact effectively with visitors, artists and suppliers, and management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• The Supervisor is responsible for a wide variety of duties in connection with the presentation, operation, cleanliness and maintenance of the property.
• Maintain the highest standards of customer and visitor service ensuring all visitors enjoy their visit to the Gallery and will recommend it to others. They will work on the execution of upcoming exhibitions, and to provide gallery reception during regular business hours. Act as an installation coordinator for the set-up and hanging of exhibitions. Monitor and keep track of supplies and the supply budget. Manage day-to-day operations.
• Responsible for maintaining retail and gallery stock, processing sales and replenishment in conjunction with the retail team at RBBM.
• Light cleaning duties will also be the responsibility of the GS.
• Ensuring the security of the property and its contents, keeping the building clean and functional, following best-practice at all times, and maintaining its 3 star VisitScotland, and Bronze Green Tourism award, rating.
• Recruitment, training and management of volunteers who will help in the running of the property and events.
• Promoting and encouraging visitors to complete visitor surveys at the property or gathering contact details for survey at a later date.

Specific duties include:
• Organise exhibitions of artworks at the property to ensure there is an interesting and engaging programme throughout the season. Provide appropriate display / storage, competent object handling, liaise with artists and suppliers and comprehensive record keeping.
• Effective promotion of the exhibitions to drive footfall and achieve sales targets
• Delivering high standards of customer service in a gallery setting, handling customer enquiries online, on the telephone and face to face
• Ensure high standards of presentation at the property through housekeeping (cleaning floors, toilets and serving areas); general tidying of the grounds and light gardening duties (although main gardening work will fall to RBBM gardening team)
• General management of the gallery including opening, closing and alarm setting; cash-handling and banking;
• Promoting the benefits of NTS membership to achieve sales targets at the property
• Recruitment and training of local volunteers to assist in day-to-day operations and events

Visiting our Café is an essential part of the visitor experience for those coming to Pollok House and the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Food & Beverage is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us. Our café is a busy operation, and the ideal candidate should be experienced in a high volume, fast paced environment. Barista experience would be beneficial for this role however training will be given.
We also operate as a function venue so this role will be required to work evenings on occasion to assist with weddings or other events. Previous experience in a function venue dealing with large scale dinner service and bar service would be beneficial.

Core hours will be the minimum hours available, with the opportunity to work additional hours to suit the needs of the business. Must have full weekend availability, hours will be issued on a rota basis.

The candidate will work alongside our Operations Team in order to deliver private events at Hopetoun.

Hours of Work and Rate

As this work is dependent on bookings the shifts are determined by the events booked and days of the week can be sporadic, but typically fall on the weekend. We operate private events all year round, however the majority of the shifts will be within the summer months. The candidate would work on a zero-hour contract, though we would expect a minimum of one shift per week at busy periods.

Rate of pay: £10.90 per hour

Final check of external areas – tidy and sweep if required

Taking a lead in tidying the ballroom after the caterers have removed their tables and chairs so that the Ballroom or Event Area looks perfectly presentable for the next morning
Regularly checking that toilets are provisioned and tidy
Emptying waste bins and a final tidy of the toilets
External tidy up around doorways and in the colonnades
Putting away in-house event equipment (lights, signs, display stands, umbrellas, shawls)
Locking windows and doors, closing shutters and blinds, turning all lights off
Ensuring all keys and in-house radios are returned to their positions
Staying onsite until all clients, staff and external partners are safely offsite
Anything else within reason that the Event Manager requires in order to deliver a five star event.
In addition to working alongside the Catering Manager until the end of the event, a security steward is also there to assist and will remain working alongside the Venue Supervisor until all is closed and locked.

JOB PURPOSE
To maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining the excellent standards we set across our properties to enable us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors. Providing an efficient, reliable service and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property. JOB PURPOSE

As a member of Culloden Battlefield’s Catering team, you will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment serving a large range of international and local guests. You will work as part of a larger, multi-department team to ensure an unforgettable visitor experience every time. This includes Abertarff House, Hugh Miller’s Cottage and Culloden Battlefield.

This role is key to the visitor experience; your role is to put smiles on faces and ensure our visitors have an amazing visit.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES

Essential

• A warm, friendly and outgoing personality.
• Previous experience in a catering or customer-facing role, delivering impeccable customer care and food safety standards.
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed including record keeping and reporting figures, cleaning, preparation and basic administration as required.
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with high volumes of customers
• Cash reconciliation duties including start and end of day tasks, must have experience handling cash accurately and processing sales
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
• To work across departments when necessary, supporting the wider Culloden cluster
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including but not limited to the wearing of uniform, being well presented with a good standard of personal hygiene.
• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers, and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).
• Ensuring Safe systems of work are implemented effectively within all activities

Desirable

• Recognised First Aid Qualification.
• Experience of a Barista-style Coffee Machine and basic knowledge of Coffee types & styles
• SCPLH Qualification Alcohol.
• Knowledge of HACCP & COSHH systems.
• Access to your own transport.
• Basic Food Hygiene Qualification (will be expected to undertake if not held)
• Experience in EPOS style till operation.
• Excellent cash handling skills.

DIMENSIONS AND SCOPE OF JOB

Scale:
⦁ Primarily based in the Visitor Centre café working a variety of shift patterns including weekends and early evenings but may involve working across all departments.

Financial Responsibilities:
⦁ To adhere to all financial procedures including till operation, banking, and safeguarding of monies: to implement amendments to standard procedure as instructions may dictate.

Health and Safety
• To complete various online learning modules covering all aspects of on-site Health and Safety
• To use personal protective equipment as provided and directed by your line manager.
• Will be a frequent user of catering equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Expected to work within and ensure compliance with the property’s ‘Safe Systems of Work’ (the system for managing health and safety and to ensure site meets with Health and Safety legislation).

Workplace context
This role is shared across the Culloden cluster the post holder is required to travel occasionally to other locations on Trust business. Note that as the Trust’s properties are often in remote or rural locations where public transport may be limited, the ability and confidence to drive in the UK is essential.

JOB PURPOSE

Visiting our Café is an essential part of the visitor experience for those coming to Newhailes House and Gardens the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Food & Beverage is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us. Our café is a busy operation, and the ideal candidate should be experienced in a high volume, fast paced environment. Barista experience would be beneficial for this role however training will be given.

Core hours will be the minimum hours available, with the opportunity to work additional hours to suit the needs of the business. Must have full weekend availability, hours will be issued on a rota basis.
We pride ourselves on creating a team work ethic here at Newhailes House so you may be required for additional support with other areas of the property such as Admissions, Retail, and Events activities to meet the business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times.
 Welcoming all visitors to the site and processing their catering purchase in a friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable manner; supporting visitors with special needs / impairments and providing a high level of service in accordance with the Equality Act.
 Answering visitors’ queries about the catering offer, deals, seating, and ingredients.
 Checking on how visitors are enjoying their experience of catering at and enquiring whether all their needs are met.
 To maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation at all times.
 The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary.
 Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required.

Customer Service

 Regular interaction with members of the public of all ages and abilities.

Teamwork

 Regular interaction with employee and volunteer colleagues to share daily tasks and support a smooth visitor operation.

Sales, stock and financial processes

 Help achieve sales targets and membership recruitment targets
 Operate tills and share end of day cash reconciliation duties, as appointed by Visitor Services Supervisor
 Regularly assist in ordering all necessary food and dry goods

Tools/equipment and cleaning chemicals

 Occasional user of cleaning chemicals.
 Expected to become familiar with and comply with the property’s Health and Safety policies or Safe Systems of Work’.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

 Ability to work within a team or independently, with minimal supervision, to a high and safe standard.
 Demonstrate experience in F&B service environment
 Ability to be flexible and adapt working patterns and tasks to meet day-to-day variations in property needs. This will include evenings to support events.
 Ability to adjust pace to match customer flow without compromising quality of service.
 Excellent front of house persona – warm, welcoming, patient and understanding.
 Excellent selling skills.
 Genuine belief in the value of good customer service.
 Ability to be proactive and to take the initiative.

We are looking for a Café Manager to join our community heritage charity and to direct and expand our current catering provision within Dundonald Castle Visitor Centre.

We support the service delivery of a top-rated 4-star visitor attraction to domestic and international visitors in South Ayrshire and operate as a busy community hub, open daily throughout the year.

We require the skills of a Café Manager to ensure that the Café will maximise its performance and fully enhance the visitor experience.
