On their fully guided tour, guests follow Edinburgh’s past residents in these underground alleyways and hear the real stories of the people who lived, worked and died there. Join us to experience over 400 years of history and unlock the secrets of Edinburgh’s only preserved 17th-century street.

An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the further success of this attraction and we require a Tour Guide and Guest Services Team Member. Through our exceptional training programme, you will have the skills to lead our guided tours as well as greeting guests, processing bookings and working in our café.

As a Tour Guide, you will deliver an exceptional experience ensuring all of our guests take away lasting memories.

Using a mix of expert knowledge and humour, you will be hosting and delivering scripted content with an injection of your own creative flair.  We are looking for people who enjoy being centre stage and bags of personality is a must. This role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to be part of a team to have fun delivering exceptional guest experience.

The role also includes assisting with private evening hire and event operations as and when required.

We are looking for team members with sparkle and passion, that are genuinely interested in providing high quality guest service and telling the stories of our unique attraction. A team playing attitude is a must.

We are currently looking for a part-time seasonal tour guide to join the GlenAllachie Team, working April to October, approximately 3 days a week.

The GlenAllachie Visitor Centre opened in May 2019 and since then has exceeded our expectations. So much so, that we’re looking to expand our team once more. The role:

· Lead distillery tours and tastings, offering engaging, informative experiences that reflect and uphold the brand’s values and personal approach.

· Collaborate with the wider Visitor Centre team in the smooth running the shop, ensuring all displays are well maintained and stock is replenished in a timely manner.

· Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, maintaining our 5-star TripAdvisor rating and hard-earnt reputation for unparalleled customer care.

Key Skills

· A fast learner, able to quickly learn all the key information required.

· Knowledge of tour booking system Checkfront would be useful but not essential.

· Knowledge of alcohol licencing law is useful but not essential.

Previous experience in a similar environment and knowledge of whisky would be preferred, but is not essential, as full training will be provided. Flexibility is a must as opening times will vary depending on the time of year and occasional evening work may be required.

Dundee Science Centre is currently looking for outgoing, dynamic, confident, exceptional communicators to join our team to fulfil the key role of Science Communicator in a part-time capacity.

You will be part of a team responsible for the smooth operation of Dundee Science Centre’s programmes and services on a daily basis, supporting the Visitor Experience Leader (VEL). You will support the wider team in science communication and ensure the quality of delivery by team members meets audience expectations and standards. Primary objectives will be championing enhanced visitor engagement, ensuring that audiences have an enjoyable, safe, and inspiring experience.

You will be an ambassador for and the public face of Dundee Science Centre. You will be an excellent communicator and an effective team player with the ability to multi-task. Your main function will be to interact with all visitors in a friendly, outgoing manner ensuring an exceptional experience.

You will be responsible for delivering high quality science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programmes across all audiences (including schools and community groups) , either in-centre or via outreach , all in line with Dundee Science Centre’s key aims and objectives, alongside local and national government initiatives, and priorities.

You will be an advocate for Inclusion & Diversity, contributing to the development of DSC’s widening access strategies creating a culture of inclusion for our team and audiences.

The successful candidates will have a positive, resourceful, and confident nature with the ability to work independently and play a key role across the organisation. You will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of visitor engagement and an enthusiasm to talk to people.

In-depth STEM knowledge is a desirable trait in this role, however having a confident and charismatic nature would be more advantageous. An understanding of science can be enhanced with on-the-job training; but an ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences is essential.

As a Guide at Edinburgh Castle, you will be responsible for providing excellent service to visitors and enhancing their experience of the castle. This post includes weekend working.

You will provide information, assistance and deliver guided tours whilst also ensuring visitor safety at Edinburgh Castle. The duties are detailed below:

•Provide assistance and information in a friendly manner to maximise visitor experience
•Develop existing knowledge of the castle’s history and share this with visitors
•Ensure the security and cleanliness of apartments and look after their contents during opening hours. Report any suspicious activity or behaviour to Senior Guides/Duty Manager
•Ensure visitor safety throughout the working day and prevent any damage to the castle
•Implement correct closedown procedures, ensuring site is clear of visitors and apartments secure
•Engage with visitors who may require use of wheelchairs, lifts or the mobility vehicle
•Manage visitor flow and report any issues to Senior Guide/Duty Manager
•Manage vehicle access inside the castle
•Assist with procedures on ceremonial occasions
•Assist with functions out with castle opening hours
•Provide information on other Historic Environment Scotland sites and services available to visitors
•Comply with any Covid guidance and our own Resumption Operating Standards restrictions in place at the time.

The Admissions Team operate at the front of the Castle, welcoming visitors from all over the world. It is a large team, led by the Admissions Manager and three Admissions Supervisors. Roles within the team include checking tickets, promoting memberships, issuing audio tours and managing traffic. This post includes weekend working.

Key responsibilities, duties, and objectives:

• Provide a world class welcome and direct visitors as appropriate upon their arrival at Edinburgh Castle.
• Sell appropriate tickets and products to all walk-up visitors.
• Ensure all vehicles entering the castle and parking on the esplanade have the appropriate approval.
• Ensure the security and safety of the visitor, whether arriving on foot or by car, and any other activity taking place on the esplanade throughout the day.
• Ensure all group visitors to the castle are welcomed and their access into the castle is managed as efficiently and effectively as possible, providing additional information as appropriate.
• Provide information on other Historic Environment Scotland sites and services available to visitors.
• Process sales, while ensuring that all financial procedures are adhered to and carried out accurately and efficiently.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and talented customer focused individuals to join our team at Fyvie Castle.

Fyvie Castle is a fabulous place for tourists and locals to soak up the atmosphere of old Scotland. Staff should be passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences to our visitors and guests and able to maximise opportunities to generate income. It’s important that Visitor Service Assistants (VSA’s) ensure the property and its assets are safe and secure. Furthermore, we’re looking for team workers who are also able to use their own initiative and are driven to make a difference.

This role is about creating a 5-star visitor experience and providing outstanding customer service. We are looking for people who have experience or a keen interest in Catering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care when –

• Welcoming visitors to the café and working in an efficient and knowledgeable manner
• Welcoming visitors with special needs / impairments and providing a high level of service in accordance with the Equality Act.
• Answering visitors queries about the catering offer.
• Promoting the National Trust for Scotland and the benefits of membership.

To maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation –
• Ensuring the café is fully stocked and set up daily.
• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required.
• Working in harmony with other departments within the property.

You must be flexible to meet the needs of the property, this will include weekend working.

Financial Responsibilities

• To adhere to all financial procedures to include till operations and cash reconciliation duties.
• Help achieve sales targets and membership recruitment targets.
• Upsell products within the café.
• Actively feedback visitor comments to line managers to improve offer, service and operation.

Health and Safety
• To ensure the site meets with the Health and Safety legislation in liaison with your department manager.
• To ensure that visitors vacate the site at close of business and site is secured at end of the day.
